Das Empress ParaEq MKII Deluxe ist ein parametrischer EQ und Boost-Pedal in Studioqualität, das für Gitarre, Bass, Synthesizer und andere Instrumente entwickelt wurde. Es bietet drei vollständig parametrische EQ-Bänder mit einstellbarer Frequenz, Verstärkung und durchstimmbarer Q-Einstellung für präzise Klangformung. Es verfügt über Baxandall-artige High-Shelf- und Low-Shelf-Shelving-Filter sowie umschaltbare 12-dB/Oktave-Hochpass- und Tiefpassfilter für eine fein abgestimmte Klangregelung. Eine Clean-Boost-Sektion ist ebenfalls enthalten und liefert bis zu +30 dB Signalverstärkung, um Verstärker oder lange Signalketten anzusteuern. Der Signalweg bleibt vollständig analog und rauschoptimiert und bietet auch bei intensiver Nutzung einen hohen Headroom und Transparenz. Das Pedal unterstützt je nach Ihren Routing-Anforderungen einen wählbaren True-Bypass- oder Buffered-Bypass-Modus.

The Empress ParaEq MKII Deluxe is a studio-grade parametric EQ and boost pedal designed for guitar, bass, synth or other instruments. It offers three fully parametric EQ bands with adjustable frequency, gain, and sweepable Q settings for precise tone shaping. It adds Baxandall-style high-shelf and low-shelf shelving filters plus switchable 12 dB/octave high-pass and low-pass filters for refined tone control. A clean boost section is included, delivering up to +30 dB of signal boost to drive amps or long signal chains. The signal path remains fully analog and noise-optimized, providing high headroom and transparency even under heavy use. Das Walrus Audio Fathom ist ein Reverb-Pedal mit vier unterschiedlichen Algorithmen, das ganz eindeutig in die Richtung eines “Effekt-Reverbs” zielt. Die Walrus Audio Julia ist ein komplett analoges Chorus/Vibrato-Pedal, das mit einigen Besonderheiten aufwarten kann. Obwohl es sich bei den beiden um alteingesessene Standard-Effektsounds handelt, versteht es der amerikanische Boutique-Hersteller, mit einigen Extras jenseits der Norm Interesse zu wecken.
So auch bei der Julia, bei der beispielsweise fließend mit einem Blend-Regler zwischen Chorus und Vibrato gewechselt werden kann. Dazu lässt ein Schalter die Wahl, den LFO zu Sinus- oder Dreieck-Wellenformen zu überreden. Was diese Funktionen klanglich bewirken, schauen wir uns im Folgenden an.

The Julia is a fully analog, feature-rich chorus/vibrato packed with a wide array of tonal landscapes begging to be explored. Updated for 2020, Julia now has top mounted jacks, soft switch bypassing and updated art from Adam Forster. 

Julia is able to produce mild smooth chorus, to seasick vibrato and everywhere in between. With controls like Lag, Dry-Chorus-Vibrato Blend, and selectable analog LFO wave shapes, you are able to dial in all types of classic and unique chorus/vibrato sounds; some settings giving a familiar feel while others are not found on traditional chorus pedals.

A special feature of the Julia is the Lag control. The Lag knob lets you set the center delay time that the LFO effect modulates from. From smooth and tight modulation at lower settings, to warbling detune at maximum, the Lag knob adds a new dimension to the traditional Chorus/Vibrato landscape.

The Lillian is a true bypass, all analog, multi-stage Phaser drawing inspiration from her cousin Julia. With controls like Rate, Width, Feedback, and D-P-V blend, the Lillian is packed with a wide array of analog phaser goodness waiting to be dialed in.

The “Stages” switch allows the user to select 4 or 6 stages which alters the overall voice of the effect from warm and tight phasing with 4 stages to a more complex filtered sound with 6.

The D-P-V knob lets you blend between dry, phase shifted, and vibrato sounds allowing for a wide range of control over the intensity and type of effect.

Top mounted input, output, and power jacks as well as soft switch relay bypassing make the Lillian fit well on your board and ensure smooth operation for years to come. 

Borrowed from the Julia, the unique blend between Dry, Chorus and Vibrato has also been provided on the Lillian. Blend between Dry, Phase Shifted, and Vibrato (labeled d-p-v on the pedal). The Dry-Phase-Vibrato blend changes the ratio of dry to wet signal sent to the output. At minimum, you will hear no effect. Set it to noon for equal parts dry and wet – the traditional Phaser setting. Set it to maximum for 100% wet resulting in pitch vibrato. Explore the ground between minimum and noon for adding slight amounts of movement to your dry signal. Explore the ground between noon and maximum for all sorts of unheard phase/vibrato combinations.

Like the Iguana that’s malleable to its environment, blending into its surroundings for harmonious balance or standing out with vibrant confidence, the Polychrome Flanger is a uniquely colorful tool for adding modulated textures to songs.   

The Polychrome is a true bypass, analog Flanger pulling in familiar layout controls from the Julia and Lillian. Dial in a wealth of colorful flange with the D-F-V (Dry, Flange, Vibrato) blend knob and the shape and voice switches.

The Shape Switch lets you select from sine, triangle, or random LFO wave to modulate the delay line.

The Voice Switch lets you select between two voices for the flanging effect. In the down position, the flanger is more traditional and full frequency. In the up position, you get a more complex and notched flange effect with less low end.

Like the other members of the Walrus Audio modulation family, the Polychrome has a blend knob. The D-F-V (Dry, Flange, Vibrato) knob lets you blend the dry and delayed signal from full dry at minimum (no effect), to traditional flange at noon to full pitch vibrato at maximum. Don’t sleep on the vibrato sounds in the Polychrome. Set the D-F-V knob to maximum, feedback to a minimum, and the voice switch up for some unique pitch vibrato.

Ich freue mich, das Wampler Ego 76 Kompressor-Pedal vorstellen zu können, meine persönliche Hommage an den legendären 1176 Peak Limiter, der über Jahrzehnte hinweg die Musikwelt geprägt hat. Dieses Pedal ist nicht nur ein Gerät, es ist eine Reise in die Seele zeitloser Studio-Sounds, und ich freue mich, seine Geschichte zu erzählen.

Der Ego 76 geht über die konventionelle Rolle eines Pedalkompressors hinaus, indem er das Signal nicht nur quetscht, sondern es tatsächlich bereichert und aufwertet. Dank der FET-Technologie (Feldeffekttransistor) habe ich dem Pedal studioähnliche Attack- und Release-Regler, einen parallelen Clean-Blend-Regler und einen sorgfältig abgestimmten Tone-Regler spendiert. The EHX Pitch Fork transposes an instrument’s pitch over a +/- three octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. The pitch shift amount can be set to a fixed interval or continuously varied by an expression pedal or control voltage.
