The sound of classic studio optical compression of the 60’s and 70’s at your feet! The first compressor pedal not to suck the life out of your tone. Operation is fairly straightforward. There are two inputs on the front side of the unit: a 1/4″ input jack on the right and a 1/4″ output jack on the left with a battery-ground switch on the input jack. There are two controls on the unit: compress and volume, plus a foot switch to bypass the effect, and an LED to indicate effect operation. On the side there is a trim pot to set the overall gain of the unit. Compress affects the amount of gain reduction (compression) of the input signal. Turning this clock wise will give you up to 30dB of gain reduction (depending on input gain).

Was ist daran so besonders?

Die meisten E-Gitarren sind mit passiven Tonabnehmern ausgestattet und haben eine entsprechend hohe Ausgangsimpedanz. Bei Verwendung eines Gitarrenkabels von 6m oder länger geht im Höhenbereich je länger je mehr vom Gitarren-Sound verloren. Ein Puffer kompensiert diese Signalbeeinträchtigung und somit den Sound-Verlust für lange Kabel – selbst, wenn die Stimmfunktion aus ist.

Der ULTRA-BUFFER verbessert die Klangqualität im Bypass-Betrieb und erhält bei Verwendung eines langen Kabels somit den Sound, ganz gleich, ob es direkt mit dem Tuner oder zunächst mit einem komplexen Effekt-Board verbunden ist.

Der Pitchblack XS erlaubt Wechsel zwischen dem True Bypass- und dem Ultra Buffer-Modus, um in jeder Lebenslage den optimalen Sound zu erzielen.

The Pitchblack XS not only features a true bypass for outputting the sound exactly as it was input, but now includes a built-in ULTRA BUFFER.

Why is this important?

The majority of electric guitars use passive pickups with a high impedance output. When you are using a cable there is a loss of tone, usually high frequencies, after about 6 m (around 18 feet) and this problem gets worse the longer your cable. A buffer boosts the signal over long cables to avoid loss of tone, keeping it clean and clear - even when your pedal is off.

The ULTRA BUFFER enhances the sound quality in bypass mode, so that you can still maintain audio quality even when using a long cable to connect to the tuner, or when inserting the tuner into a complex effects board.

On the Pitchblack XS, you can switch between true bypass and the ULTRA BUFFER, according to your tastes and environment.

Oft kopiert aber nie erreicht, rangiert das schwer zu findende, originale, Phase 90 bei den Sammlern alter Bodentreter ganz weit oben. Das Original - seit der Gründung der Firma Dunlop bis in die späten 70er Jahre erhältlich – definierte den klassischen Phase Shifter Sound und war in allen Musikstilen zu hören, egal ob Hard Rock, Jazz-Fusion oder Funk-Hits. Der nach dem Kultpedal der Firma designte Phaser kommt puritanisch mit einem Regler aus, über den der Phaser-Speed einstellbar ist. Eine rote LED über dem stabilen Fußschalter zeigt den Schaltstatus an. Das massive Spritzgußgehäuse verfügt über jeweils 1/4" Klinke In- und Out-Eingänge. Betrieben wird der Kulttreter mit einer 9V Batterie, die in einem leicht zugänglichen Batteriefach auf der Unterseite Platz findet. Es ist erhältlich in der ursprünglichen orangenen Farbe.

The Warden ist ein dank seiner sechs Regelmöglichkeiten (Tone, Level, Sustain, Ratio, Attack und Release) äußerst vielseitig einstellbares Kompressor-Pedal. Von einer kaum wahrnehmbaren, aber wirkungsvollen Kompression bis hin zu heftig komprimierten Tönen mit schnellem Attack reicht das Spektrum von The Warden. Die 9V-Netzgerätespannung wird intern in 18V umgewandelt, was für erweiterten Headroom und gesteigerte Dynamik sorgt. Die Opto-elektronische Schaltung bewirkt eine charakterstarke Kompression und der Tone-Regler ermöglicht sowohl Treble-Boosts als auch Treble-Cuts. The Warden ist mit einem True Bypass ausgestattet und wird in Handarbeit in Ohio/USA hergestellt. Der Warden V2 verfügt über einen geräuschlosen, relais-basierten Soft-Touch Fußschalter. With complete control over attack, release, sustain and ratio, The Warden will allow everything from a heavy squash with fast attack and release to “barely there” subtle compression.
