SBVT II is, as the name suggests, based on the preamp of the legendary Ampeg SVT. Great care was taken to keep the tone of the preamp intact while adding some convenient features for the modern player. The mids-frequency selector was expanded to an 8-position switch instead of the original 5-position, allowing greater flexibility with the EQ. A balanced XLR D.I. output was added so you can deliver your tone straight to front of house or a recording interface. Both the 1/4″ and XLR outputs have independent volume controls as well as independent bypass switches, so you have complete control over what sound is going where. The SBVT II has Ultra Hi and Ultra Low switches (like the original SVT) for extended lows and highs, and uses custom-wound inductors to replicate the tone of original SVT units. It comes equipped with three 12AX7 (ECC83) tubes and an Unagi Magnetics E4305 D.I. transformer.
