Die Walrus Audio Julia ist ein komplett analoges Chorus/Vibrato-Pedal, das mit einigen Besonderheiten aufwarten kann. Obwohl es sich bei den beiden um alteingesessene Standard-Effektsounds handelt, versteht es der amerikanische Boutique-Hersteller, mit einigen Extras jenseits der Norm Interesse zu wecken.
So auch bei der Julia, bei der beispielsweise fließend mit einem Blend-Regler zwischen Chorus und Vibrato gewechselt werden kann. Dazu lässt ein Schalter die Wahl, den LFO zu Sinus- oder Dreieck-Wellenformen zu überreden. Was diese Funktionen klanglich bewirken, schauen wir uns im Folgenden an.

The Julia is a fully analog, feature-rich chorus/vibrato packed with a wide array of tonal landscapes begging to be explored. Updated for 2020, Julia now has top mounted jacks, soft switch bypassing and updated art from Adam Forster. 

Julia is able to produce mild smooth chorus, to seasick vibrato and everywhere in between. With controls like Lag, Dry-Chorus-Vibrato Blend, and selectable analog LFO wave shapes, you are able to dial in all types of classic and unique chorus/vibrato sounds; some settings giving a familiar feel while others are not found on traditional chorus pedals.

A special feature of the Julia is the Lag control. The Lag knob lets you set the center delay time that the LFO effect modulates from. From smooth and tight modulation at lower settings, to warbling detune at maximum, the Lag knob adds a new dimension to the traditional Chorus/Vibrato landscape.

The 280 is an optical compressor that can go from light sustain to utterly smashed with the turn of a knob. Unlike faster non-optical circuits the 280 retains your high frequencies until you get into the more extreme settings. The 280 is ideal for chicken-pickin’, added sustain for leads, or snappy-slappy funk rhythm. The 280 also has enough output to be used as a lead boost with added compressor sustain. And like all of the updated DOD pedal, it has a modern power jack, LED, light but strong aluminum chassis, and true bypass switching.

The Chase Bliss Tonal Recall RKM is the ultimate delay pedal for sound tinkerers and fans of spherical reverb sounds. The'Red Knob Mod' version of the Tonal Recall features 4 classic MN3005 Bucket-Brigade Delay Chips. Delay times from 20 to 275ms or 80 to 1100ms can be controlled by S/L/B controls either individually or even together, while Note Division Toggle allows binary and ternary subdivisions of the tapped tempo.

The three controls Mix, Delay-Time and Rain control the classic parameters of the delay effect in the form of mix portion, reverb time and number of repetitions. It gets really exciting when the modulation talents of Tonall Recall are used. Three different waveforms for the LFO and controls for effect depth and rate are available.

There is one overdrive circuit to this day has been the most talked about, the most sought after, and the most mythical of them all. It’s big, it’s expensive, and it has certainly earned its place at the table. Wampler has painstakingly and faithfully reproduced that magical tone in all its glory in an unbelievably small package, and its name is Tumnus. Tumnus is a versatile addition to any setup, any style. Stack it with another pedal to help push or shape the total amount of gain, use it as a stand alone overdrive, or use it as a slightly dirty boost to push the front end of your amp over the edge. You can even use it as a buffer, because just like the original this pedal is not true bypass. Instead, faithful to the original, this pedal contains a buffered bypass tone legendary in its own right. The Tumnus’ streamlined 3 control knobs (Volume, Gain, and Treble) allow you to quickly dial in your tones no matter what the gig calls for. We aren’t going to sit here and claim it has magical parts, or we sourced out 60 year old diodes that make it perfect, but we are going to say that during our research we looked at everything available and then only used the parts that Brian chose to replicate that amazing tone. Let’s face it, not everyone has room for a four-legged beast on their board. This smaller version slips in and out of a myriad of tight situations. Now you can have the tone. The Decimator guitar pedal offers a new approach to noise reduction processing. Most noise suppression systems suffer from one major problem inherent in their design: The system cannot be immediately responsive to very short-term staccato notes. The typical downward expander sound reduction system suffers from a dead zone in the release response characteristic that causes a compromise in tracking both fast decaying notes and long sustained notes. The Decimator pedal's design offers a novel approach to tracking the envelope of the input signal called Time Vector Processing.

Due to this novel approach in controlling the expander, the Decimator system will instantly respond to short staccato notes and, at the same time, will provide a very slow ripple free control of long sustained notes. The Decimator noise suppression system is very transparent delivering high performance.

In this aptly named box you'll find a huge range of killer high gain tones. From crisp, mid-driven 80's metal, to scooped, modern down-tuned brutality, this little box of sonic mayhem does it all. The two independent channels can be voiced similarly so that one channel can be used as a solo boost, or they can be voiced entirely differently by using the mid range control in conjunction with the 3 position mid frequency select switch. Add in separate weight controls to shape the low end response of each channel, and a global hi/low eq section that allows you to fine tune your particular amp and cab combination, and you've got a serious tool to create a supremely heavy sounding rig.

Der rückseitige Nomod-Schalter sorgt für ein tighteres Lowend, was gerade bei höherer Verzerrung äußerst nützlich ist.

Neben der 30 Watt Lunchbox Version V30, gibt es auch das V130 Topteil im Holz und Tolex Gehäuse mit 100 Watt Leistung und zwei Gain Modes im Overdrive Channel. Ebenfalls erhältlich sind der V4 The Jack Preamp und der V4 The Jack Pedalboard Amp sowie das V1 The Jack Pedal, mit dem sich jeder Amp mit den Crunch-, Overdrive- und Lead-Sounds der The Jack Amps kombinieren lässt.


The Jack is Victory's all-around amplifier and was originally developed in collaboration with fusion guitarist Guthrie Govan. It offers everything you could want from a guitar amp, from crystal clear cleans to extreme distortion. The sounds are split between a clean and an overdrive channel, each with individual master volume controls. The former can also be set to crunch mode via a footswitch. The Nomod switch on the back provides a tighter low end, which is extremely useful for higher distortion.

In addition to the 30-watt lunchbox version V30, there is also the V130 top in wood and tolex housing with 100 watts of power and two gain modes in the overdrive channel. Also available are the V4 The Jack Preamp and the V4 The Jack Pedalboard Amp as well as the V1 The Jack Pedal, which can be used to combine any amp with the crunch, overdrive and lead sounds of The Jack amps.

Die Regelmöglichkeiten für Length (Länge des Nachhalls), Dampen (Tone), Reflect (Depth, Regeneration) und Mix (Wet/Dry-Mix) sind bekannte Parameter bei Reverb-Pedalen und arbeiten sehr intuitiv. Der Diffuse-Regler kontrolliert die Streuung des Nachhalls und ermöglicht je nach Setting aggressivere Sounds, bei denen das Einsetzen der einzelnen Wiederholungen deutlicher hörbar oder weicher und verwaschener wird. The EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 sounds a lot like it looks: a sound wizard bursting forth from ethereal cave and ready for the ambient reverb battle. The pedal offers an extremely wide range of different, vast, expansive, and magical ambient reverbs and covers all possible effects from wild and cavernous reverb effects to atmospheric reverberations of short digital delays to scattered, rhythmic delays with bizarre characteristics. The controls for Length (decay length of the reverb), Dampen (tone), Reflect (depth, regeneration) and Mix (wet/dry mix) are well-known parameters for reverb pedals and work very intuitively. The Diffuse knob adjusts the spread of the reverb, turned counterclockwise, the reverb is sharper with more attack, resulting in a stuttering sputter of individual early reflections. Clockwise casts a washy, more ambient-sounding effect. Drag separates the individual digital delay lines, clockwise positions will gather the delay lines close together for a more reverb-like effect. Turn the Drag counterclockwise, and the delay lines will begin to pull apart for a scattered ping-pong delay effect.

Dem beliebten MXR Ten Band EQ hat der amerikanische Hersteller ein Facelift verpasst und präsentiert ihn unter der Modellnummer M108S in einem neuen, leichteren Gehäuse mit True-Bypass-Schaltung, einer effektiveren Rauschunterdrückung und zwei Ausgängen. Geblieben sind das große Frequenzspektrum von 31,25 Hz bis 16 kHz, getrennte In- und Output-Levels sowie der Betrieb mit 18 Volt für mehr Headroom.
Da der MXR Ten Band EQ auch Frequenzbereiche unterstützt, die von einem Gitarrenlautsprecher eigentlich nicht mehr übertragen werden, empfiehlt er sich ebenso für den Betrieb am E-Bass, für Fullrange-Anwendungen oder fürs Direct-Recording. Nicht wenige Gitarristen schätzen den grafischen Equalizer
