A compact digital reverb pedal with pure-analog dry signal path, true-bypass switching, and controls for Time, Tone, and Reverb (depth), the Silver Spring proved a sparkling little performer in a range of settings. It ably subbed for a tube Fender Reverb Unit in front of a tweed-like combo for some surfy instrumentals, and worked equally well replacing a Bogner Goldfinger’s builtin spring reverb in the amp’s parallel FX loop. It doesn’t go splash when you kick it, and you might detect just a hair of pulsing in the wash of the effect’s decay, but all in all it’s a stellar sounding unit

Drehen Sie den Regler nach links, um die Höhen abzusenken und warme, trübe, analog anmutende Wiederholungen zu erzeugen. Building on SGFX’s Electroman Delay legacy, the EM-III manages to both echo the past, present and future. With EM-III’s wide-ranging yet ultra-intuitive control set, placing warm analog-voiced echoes, precise and modern delays, as well as experimental and futuristic sound designs and octave overtones, are all just a single stomp away. 

The color knob allows you to engage both high-pass and low-pass filtering. Dead-center you have a pristine full-frequency digital delay. Dial it to the left and you cut the highs, creating warm, murky analog-esque repeats. Dial it to the right and you suck out the lows for crisp and bright tape-style repeats or super thin lo-fi delays.

The EM-III also brings interactive warp and glitch features to the tonal table. Hold the Tap to engage the warp function which increases the repeats until self-oscillation, creating a swelling wall of sound. Hold Bypass to engage the glitch feature which replicates the sound of a tape motor on the fritz and a tape reel snapping, or hold both for glorious noise seances that will act as the perfect song/set closer.

Das EarthQuaker Devices Hizumitas wurde speziell für die einzigartige Wata von der legendären Experimental-Band Boris entwickelt, eine der härtesten Bands, die jemals aus Japan hervorgegangen sind. Das Hizumitas ist eine originalgetreue Nachbildung von Watas Distortion Pedal Elk BM Sustainar. Das Elk Sustainar ist eine japanische Variante des bekannteren Triangle BMP. Während der Entwicklung analysierten die Designer von EQD mehrere Vintage-Exemplare des BMP sowie verschiedene Versionen des Elk und stellten schnell fest, dass all diese Pedale sich recht deutlich voneinander unterschieden. Um klanglich den sprichwörtlichen Geist in der Flasche einzufangen, gab es nur eine Möglichkeit: Sie mussten Watas Originalpedal in die Finger kriegen. Glücklicherweise war sie so großzügig, ihr geliebtes Pedal um die halbe Welt zu schicken und EQD entdeckte, dass es etwas Besonderes hatte, das die anderen nicht hatten: eine besonders heftige Sättigung, eine ordentliche "Schippe Dreck" und einen massiven Bassbereich. Und dennoch lieferte dieses Pedal ein klares, dynamisches Klangbild mit genug Mitten und Höhen, um sich bei Boris durchzusetzen. Das Ziel war klar: EarthQuaker Devices wollten mit dem Hizumitas all diese Eigenschaften unverfälscht nachbilden! Das Hizumitas sorgt für heftigste Verzerrung und sanftes Sustain. Darunter liegt ein düsterer, körniger Grit, der so klingt, als ob die angeschlossenen Boxen gleich platzen müssten. Dennoch bleiben eine erstaunliche Klarheit und ein aufgeräumtes Klangbild, das man bei einem derart aggressiven Effekt nicht erwarten würde. Der Sustain-Regler hat einen großen Sättigungsbereich, selbst kleine Änderungen haben einen großen Einfluss auf den Gesamtklang. Das Hizumitas reagiert sehr sensibel auf verschiedene Pickup-Typen und Spieltechniken. Power Chords klingen dramatisch und wuchtig, während offene Akkorde dynamisch und mit fantastischer Notentrennung rüberkommen. Und Single Note Leads klingen vor allem am Hals-Pickup strahlend und kraftvoll. Der Tone-Regler ist für diese Art von Distortion untypisch und kann in Verbindung mit der Sustain-Einstellung den Charakter der Verzerrung drastisch verändern. Dreht man den Regler mit dem Uhrzeigersinn werden die Bässe angehoben, dreht man den Regler gegen den Uhrzeigersinn werden die Höhen betont. Der Tone-Regler kann von einer aggressiven Mid-Range bis zu durchdringenden Höhen gehen, wenn man ihn gegen den Uhrzeigersinn dreht. Wenn man ihn im Uhrzeigersinn dreht, werden die Mitten weniger präsent, die Höhen werden gezähmt und ein gewaltiges, donnerndes Low-End kommt in den Vordergrund. Der Volume-Regler bietet massiven Output Gain - die Unity-Gain-Einstellung liegt etwa bei der 9- / 10-Uhr-Position des Volume-Reglers. Bei jeder höheren Einstellung geht der Signalpegel durch die Decke.

The EarthQuaker Devices Hizumitas was designed for the one and only Wata from the legendary experimental band Boris, one of the heaviest bands ever to come out of Japan. Hizumitas is a faithful recreation of Wata's go-to distortion pedal, the Elk BM Sustainar. The Elk is a Japanese variant of the very well-known Triangle BMP. The designers at EQD tried several vintage BMP's during development, found that each pedal was wildly different and realized that to truly capture the magic they needed the original. Wata graciously sent her beloved pedal halfway around the world, and EQD discovered that it had something special the others didn't have: heavy saturation with a gritty edge and massive bottom while maintaining a clear and dynamic tone with enough mids and top end to cut through any sludge. The studious wizards at EQD have built all of those characteristics into the Hizumitas! The pedal brings loads of heavy distortion and smooth sustain and an underlying grit that sounds like the speakers are on the verge of ripping apart while delivering amazing and unexpected clarity from such an aggressive sounding pedal. The Sustain control has a wide range of saturation, meaning even small changes will significantly affect the overall tone. Hizumitas responds excellently to all types of pickups and playing dynamics. Your power chords will sound huge and heavy, while open chords will be dynamic with fantastic note separation, and single note leads will come across smooth and powerful, especially with the neck pickup. The Tone control is atypical for this type of distortion and can drastically change the distortion's character in conjunction with the Sustain setting. Bass frequencies are boosted clockwise, and treble frequencies are boosted counterclockwise. The tone control can go from an aggressive mid-range grind to piercing highs as you turn it counterclockwise. As you turn it clockwise, the mids become less present, the highs are tamed, and a humongous, thundering low end comes to the forefront. The Volume control offers massive output gain with unity at around 9-10 o'clock and beyond that, prepare to hear and feel the power of Hizumitas!

Der Lightspeed Organic Overdrive ist ein Overdrive mit sehr natürlichem Klang. Warum „organisch“?
