Monica is a premium boutique overdrive pedal handmade in Tokyo, Japan, serving as the flagship model for the Virtues effects brand. It utilizes a classic overdrive circuit architecture updated with a JFET input operational amplifier to provide a highly expressive, modern dynamic range. The pedal stands out by incorporating a bipolar transistor as its primary clipping element rather than standard silicon or germanium diodes, delivering a creamy saturation that remains highly responsive to picking dynamics. It features traditional Volume, Tone, and Gain knobs, alongside a dedicated Low Boost trim control mounted on the top edge of the chassis to adjust low-frequency response without altering the core midrange voice. Designed to pair seamlessly as a main transparent overdrive or a clean boost with a wide variety of guitars and amplifiers, the pedal also features an intelligent LED indicator that shifts color to signal remaining battery life.Media
