The speaker cab simulation & DI let's you go direct, providing YOUR sound, whatever backline is being provided at the venue you're playing. Do you want to use your favorite cab? No problem, load an impulse response of its sound into the MOD 5 and you have it with you, wherever you go. The patchbay part is designed to route connections from underneath your pedalboard to its front, in order to give you a central access point to your setup and tidy up your connections. Das TC Electronic Eyemaster ist eine Kopie des Boss HM-2 Pedals, welches für den Kettensägensound der Schwedischen Death Metal Bewegung der 90er Jahre steht. Ich selber besitze ein Boss HM2 (Made in Taiwan), zwei Bausätze „Das HmTwo“ von „das Musikding“ und jetzt auch das TC Electronic Eyemaster. Das Eyemaster verfügt nur über Gain und Volume Regler, auf den EQ wurde verzichtet.

Just set the volume (all the way up, right?) and adjust the gain (anything less than all-the-gain is sacrilege) and start riffing.

In Betrieb genommen wird das TC NOVA durch Einstecken des Netzkabels. Schade, denn ein Netzschalter wäre hier sicher eine nicht zu kostspielige und bequemere Art gewesen. Schon beim ersten Durchsteppen der Presets zeigt sich ein angenehm harmonischer und gut durchsetzungsfähiger Grundsound. Das von TC Electronic benannte NDT-System (NOVA DRIVE TECHNOLOGY) für Distortion-Sounds kann überzeugen und liefert, egal ob im nur leicht crunchigen Betrieb oder bei hohen Verzerrungsgraden, jederzeit ein sauberes, matschfreies und dynamisches Klangbild. Auch die Modulationseffekte wie Chorus, Delay und Reverb können überzeugen und bieten mit ihren reichhaltigen Parametern eine sehr hohe klangliche Dichte, wenn gleich man sich beim tieferen Editieren schon durch ein mehrseitiges Menü hangeln muss. Doch das kann sich lohnen, wie etwa beim Intelligent Pitch-Shifter, der nach Eingabe der entsprechenden Tonart immerhin mit bis zu dreistimmigen Voicings (und das ohne eine spürbare Latenz beim spielen) aufwarten kann.
