The Shin-Ei Original Uni-Vibe is a legendary phase shifter effect pedal designed by audio engineer Fumio Mieda. Introduced in the 1960s, it was originally marketed as the Vibra-Chorus by Japanese company Shin-ei (then known as Honey). The pedal was designed to mimic the sound of radio signals from Russia undergoing atmospheric modulation, creating a unique chorus and vibrato effect for electric organ or guitar.

The original Shin-Ei Uni-Vibe features a distinctive metal hood with a mirror-like interior, an incandescent bulb, and four Light Dependent Resistors (LDRs). This unique arrangement is believed to be essential for producing the pedal’s signature sound. The pedal also has an external speed control foot pedal, allowing for precise control over the effect.

The Shin-Ei Uni-Vibe has been widely used by many famous guitarists, including Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Eric Clapton, to name a few. Its thick, rich “chorus” effect has become a staple in classic rock music. While many companies have copied the Uni-Vibe's design, many players agree that there’s no substitute for the original.

Dimebag Darrell kombinierte die Attitüde eines Cowboys mit High-Gain Riffs und schreienden Leads voller Pinch Harmonics. Eines der wichtigsten Elemente seines Sounds war das Cry Baby Wah, dass er in einer Zeit spielte, als Wah-Pedale lange aus der Mode waren. Durch seine Erfahrung aus jahrelangen Touren half Dimebag Dunlop bei der Entwicklung des flexibelsten Wah-Pedals aller Zeiten: Dem Dime Cry Baby From Hell Wah. 

Dunlop baute das Dime Cry Baby Wah-Pedal auf der Grundlage des 535Q, nahm die Q-Control, den 6-Wege Range Schalter und den schalt- und regelbaren Boost, modifizierte die Sweep Range speziell nach den Bedürfnissen von Dimebag, fügte einen Regler für die max. Sweep Range und einen zweiten Output hinzu und installierte zwei Status LEDs an der Rückseite des Pedals, die den Zustand von Wah und Boost anzeigen. Als letztes Detail wurde die klassische Gummi-Matte auf der Oberseite durch Skateboard Skip Tape getauscht, damit das Pedal auch in Kontakt mit Feuchtigkeit absolut rutschfest bleibt.

Dimebag Darrell combined a cowboy’s swagger with high-gain riffs and squealing pinch harmonic-laden leads. One of the most significant elements of his sound and dynamics was the Cry Baby Wah, and at a time when wah pedals had fallen out of fashion, Dime flew his wah flag high. Armed with his hard-earned expertise and insight from years of touring, he helped Dunlop devise the most versatile wah in their lineup: The Dime Cry Baby from Hell Wah.

Work on this pedal first began some 20 years ago when Dime, a long-time user of the super customizable Cry Baby 535Q Multi-Wah, wanted even more freedom when setting up his rig on stage. Starting with the 535Q, Dunlop carried over its Q control, 6-way range selector, and adjustable kick-in boost. Next, Dunlop hot-rodded it with a wide sweep range for Dime to dig deep and fly high, a control to adjust the pedal’s toe-down frequency, an extra output for splitting your signal to a separate FX chain, and back-mounted LED indicators to conveniently show whether the wah is on and whether the boost is engaged. Finally, Dunlop replaced the standard rubber tread with skateboard skid tape so that your foot doesn’t slip on any spilled beverages.

Take a trip back in time to the underappreciated 12bit era of synthesis. A time of experiments built for mass appeal. Finally, synthesizers were available to the everyday musician. One new idea was phase distortion synthesis.  Casio sold it as the answer to Yamaha’s FM synthesis. Ultimately, Casio discontinued the CZ phase distortion synthesizers, but these synthesizers garnered a cult following for their versatility and relative affordability.

The PixelWave covers a wide range of synthesizer sounds. From string ensembles to filter sweeps and resonant noise. Oscillators can be offset over four octaves by half-step increments and fine-tuning. Use this to create massive 80s unison leads or modern one key dance chords.
