DISTORTION
Description
The Cd65 CompanDrive is an all-analog overdrive and utility pedal developed in collaboration with guitarist Kenyon Reed. It serves as a faithful recreation of the 1960s studio companding circuits often used in high-end tape recording processes. The signal path consists of four distinct stages: a Vintage Console Gain Circuit utilizing an LM308 op-amp, a soft-knee compressor, a signal expander, and a final vintage-style output boost. This unique architecture creates a "glue and bloom" effect that enhances harmonics and dynamics while providing mix-ready studio tones. The pedal is designed to function as an "always-on" enhancer, a transparent boost, or a rich low-to-medium gain overdrive.
