Description

Regista is the studio mid you were never supposed to have. For decades, the most powerful midrange control available to guitarists were locked inside recording consoles. Not a pedal, not a rack unit, but large-format British desk where engineers spent years learning to use it. Regista takes that topology, extends it beyond its original design limits, and puts it at your feet. Rupert Neve's most sophisticated parametric mid design was not the 1073. It was a strip from a console most engineers never touched and most guitarists have never heard of. The Amek Mozart MZ15-RN arrived in the early 1990s, carrying two fully parametric mid bands that engineers who worked on one still talk about. It recorded some extraordinary things, while the industry moved to digital, the desks went into storage, and the strip became the kind of thing you find in small batches on the second-hand market, stripped out of dead consoles. Nobody built circuits based on it. Everyone kept chasing the 1073. Regista takes the MF1 and MF2 sections of that module, merges them into a single continuous system, and extends their original ranges in sweep, bandwidth, and gain beyond what the console was ever designed to do. Three fully independent controls give you everything: Zone sweeps continuously from 100 Hz to 10 kHz. Shape sets the bandwidth from broad to narrow. Drive applies a bell boost or cut of up to ±18 dB at the chosen frequency. Together they turn the midrange from a fixed EQ band into a space you navigate with intent. A state-variable architecture keeps phase coherence across the entire sweep, making extreme settings musical rather than destructive. A post-EQ Level control provides ±18 dB, letting you rebalance the signal after shaping without losing ground. At certain settings, something unexpected happens. The redistribution of midrange energy introduces subtle movement within the sound itself, as harmonics shift in balance and notes begin to breathe. It is the sensation engineers describe when sweeping a parametric mid on a large-format console. Regista puts it at your feet.
