Das Phil Jones Bass PE-5 wurde für E-Bässe und elektrische Upright-Bässe entwickelt. Das Pedal verfügt über einen ausgeklügelten 5-Band EQ und bietet außerdem eine hervorragende Funktion als Vorverstärker, DI-Box und Signal Boost. Das PE-5 bietet eine umschaltbare Eingangsimpedanz speziell für magnetische Pickups oder Piezo-Tonabnehmer und kann so das volle Spektrum des Instruments zum Vorschein bringen. Zusätzlich kann das Pedal als Signal Boost genutzt werden, um selbst Pickups mit niedrigem Output optimal zu nutzen und das Front-End des Verstärkers in die Sättigung zu bringen. Input Level und Gain sind so konzipiert, dass sie den Pickup Output präzise an den verwendeten Verstärker anpassen und der symmetrischer DI-Output bietet ausreichend Power, um das Signal direkt in die Endstufe oder einen aktiven Lautsprecher zu schicken. Der 5-Band EQ ist ein hochpräziser Equalizer mit jeweils +/- 15 dB Boost und Cut (bzw. +/- 12 dB Boost und Cut im Lo-Bass). Der Q-Faktor ist in allen Bändern identisch, was die Klangformung deutlich einfacher macht als mit herkömmlichen Tone-Stacks. Die jeweiligen Frequenz-Bereiche wurden sorgfältig für das Voicing eines Basses ausgewählt, damit der EQ schnell und präzise in genau den Bereichen arbeitet, die man benötigt. Der symmetrische DI-Ausgang bietet höchste Klangqualität, ein extrem niedriges Grund-Rauschen, einen schaltbaren Gound Lift und passt selbst zu den feinsten Tonstudio-Mischpulten und Live-Sound-Systemen. Das PE-5 kann mit einem 9V DC Netzteil oder mit dem internen Lithium-Ionen Akku betrieben werden, der über der USB Type-C Anschluss aufgeladen wird. Die beiden Fußschalter bieten eine Mute-Funktion und einen True Bypass. Das robuste Gehäuse besteht aus einer Druckguss-Aluminiumlegierung, die für jahrelangen Betrieb ausgelegt ist.

The Phil Jones Bass PE-5 was designed for bass guitar and upright bass and incorporates a sophisticated 5-band EQ and also offers superior function as a preamp, direct box, and signal booster. The PE-5 is engineered with a unique switchable input impedance which allows the pedal to match exactly to either a magnetic or piezo pickup. It achieves the full band spectrum for either pickup source. In addition it is a signal booster which compensates for low output pickups and will also provide ample drive for any amplifier. The input level and gain controls are designed to precisely match the pickup output to an amplifier. The line output is strong enough to use directly into a power amplifier or a powered speaker. The 5-band EQ is a high precision equalizer which means that each boost or cut level is identical to each adjacent band. Plus the Q factor of each band is identical. This makes it far easier for the player to accomplish the tone that they are pursuing. These frequency bands were carefully chosen for the voice of a bass so that the user will be able to adjust the EQ rapidly to get the desired sound. The DI output is of the highest audio quality obtainable providing a match to even the finest recording studio mixing consoles and live sound systems. It has extremely high signal to noise ratio and features a ground lift switch to eliminate the possibility of 'Mains Hum'. The PE-5 can be powered by a standard 9-volt DC pedal adaptor or run on its own internal lithium-ion battery that is charged with a standard cell phone charger via its USB socket. The two footswitches provide a mute function and a true bypass. The rugged housing is constructed of die cast aluminum alloy made to deliver years of service.
