Das Particle 2 ist ein granulares Delay / Pitch Shifting Pedal. Das Signal wird in kleine Stücke zerhackt und dann neu zusammengesetzt, geshiftet und verworren. Dabei werden die Techniken der Granular Synthese in Echtzeit verwendet. Die Ergebnisse reichen von radikaler Pitch- und Delay-Modulation über Shimmer Repeats bis hin zu Time-Stretching-, Stutter und Glitch-Sounds. Es ist ein komplettes Re-Design der Version 1, das viele Verbesserungen für den Live-Einsatz und eine bessere Klangqualität beinhaltet. Im nun kleineren Gehäuse können 127 Presets gespeichert werden. Die Verzögerungszeit wurde auf 2500 ms verlängert und gleichzeitig die Sampling Rate erhöht. Tap-Tempo ermöglicht die Einstellung von Verzögerungszeit, LFO-Rate, Korngröße und Dichte mit unabhängigen Taktunterteilungen. Ein Expression Pedal kann einer beliebigen Kombination von Knöpfen zugewiesen werden. Der separat erhältliche DIY-freundliche Red Panda Remote 4 Fußschalter ermöglicht zusätzlich die Steuerung per Fuß, während der Particle zum Drehen an den Reglern auf Tischhöhe steht. Die acht Modi können kombiniert werden, um die Fähigkeiten der Granular Synthese noch weiter auszuloten können, und MIDI (über USB) ermöglicht den Zugriff auf zusätzliche Parameter.

Particle 2 is a granular delay / pitch shifting pedal. It chops your signal into small grains and then rearranges, shifts, and mangles it, using the techniques of granular synthesis in real time. Results range from radical pitch and delay modulation to shimmering repeats to time stretching, stutter, and glitch sounds. It is a complete redesign of version 1, incorporating many improvements for live use and better sound quality.  In the smaller enclosure 127 presets can be stored. Delay time has been extended to 2500 ms, at a higher sampling rate. Tap tempo allows delay time, LFO rate, grain size, and density adjustment with independent note divisions.  The expression pedal is assignable to any combination of knobs, and Red Panda's separately available DIY-friendly Remote 4 switch allows foot control while the Particle sits at table height for knob tweaking.  The eight modes can be combined to explore more granular synthesis territory, and MIDI (via USB) gives access to additional parameters.

Mit sechs Reglern und neun Schaltern bleibt das Pedal trotz aller Features intuitiv bedienbar, dabei behält das Raster V2 die direkte Kontrolle, für die die Vorgänger-Version so gelobt wurde, und bietet zusätzlich eine flexible Modulation und einen True Stereo Betrieb. Die alternativen Funktionen der Regler stehen im direkten Zusammenhang mit der Hauptfunktion und sind zum besseren Verständnis klar beschriftet. Beide Fußschalter lassen sich, je nach Wunsch, als Latching oder Momentary Schalter nutzen. Bei der Entwicklung des Raster V2 wollten Red Panda Labs so viele klassische Rackmount Digital-Delay-Tricks wie möglich integrieren und gleichzeitig die schnelle und intuitive Steuerung beibehalten, die die Verwendung des ursprünglichen Rasters so unterhaltsam machte. Anstelle mehrerer Modi mit generischen Regler-Namen sind alle Parameter immer verfügbar, sodass sich verschiedene Effekte mischen und anpassen und zwischendurch neue Sounds erkunden lassen.

The Red Panda Raster V2 is a digital delay with a pitch and frequency shifter integrated into the feedback loop. Forward or reverse delay can be shifted once or have continuously shifted repeats. The effects pedal delivers a wide range of sounds including modulated and harmonized delays, reverse delays, chorus, arpeggios, infinite descents, chaotic self-oscillation, and continuously evolving soundscapes. The core of the Raster V2 is a clean delay with up to 1600 ms of delay time. Three delay ranges allow you to precisely dial in resonant feedback sounds and instantly change delay time with rhythmic shifts. The feedback control has infinite repeats at 3 o’clock and chaotic, textured feedback loops at higher levels. Knob responses are carefully tuned for exploration of self-oscillation and feedback on the verge of blowing up. A tone control sweeps from dark analog-style repeats to digital clarity and emphasizes the attack at higher settings. The left and right delay times can be set as a ratio, so a single knob changes both in sync. The two delay channels can be arranged in series, parallel or ping pong. Pitch shifting repeats up or down in semitone steps creates tempo-synced arpeggios and alien organ sounds. The detune setting can dial in micro pitch shifts and chorused repeats. The left and right channels can be shifted by the same amount, a ratio, or opposite directions. At subtle settings, repeats evolve in a way that sounds natural, but different from analog delays. Beyond pitch shifting, a combination phase/frequency shifter creates subtle evolving repeats, dissonant harmonies, and barber pole flanging. It can be pushed to extremes for ring modulation and inharmonic shifted delays that distort and break apart. The Raster’s modulation section has seven waveforms that can be assigned to delay time, pitch shift, or effect level (for tremolo). There are two random waveforms for glitchy sliced delays or random pitch shift, wow and flutter, and broken tape deck effects. Envelope and inverse envelope enable dynamic flanging and pitch bent delays. Stereo controls adjust the modulation amount and phase between channels, for subtle shifts or swirling psychedelic washes. Capable of extreme sonic mayhem, the Red Panda Raster V2 can also be used with restraint to add unique character to your sound. The Raster 2 is performance friendly, with 6 knobs and 9 switches. The original Raster was praised for its knob response and immediacy, and the Raster 2 maintains that simplicity while adding flexible modulation and extensive stereo functionality. Alternate knob settings are related to the primary knob function, labeled, and off at the center position. Both footswitches can be latching or momentary, for instant pitch jumps or quick blasts of echo. The bypass switch can also mute the output in bypass while always listening, to catch, repeat, and manipulate what you just played. While designing the Raster 2, Red Panda Labs wanted to enable as many classic rack mount digital delay tricks as possible while keeping the fast and intuitive control that made the original Raster so fun to use. Instead of multiple modes with generic knob names, all of the parameters are always available, so you can mix and match different effects and explore new sounds in between.

A uniquely designed steel enclosure made with quality components throughout. My goal was to spare no expense. I realize that sometimes in the world of guitar gear, there isn’t always one answer in choosing the best components and designs, so I just picked my favorites. This includes Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks, and a super quiet soft touch switching system via an internal relay.

I have been working on this project for the better part of three years, as a collaboration and with engineering by Jon Ashley of Bondi Effects. I feel that the pedal is unique in design and sonically unlike anything I have ever heard, especially in the lower gain and boost settings. There is a subtlety that feels more like a vintage pedal than a modification of a classic. There are two circuits present in the pedal, one distortion and one preamp boost, running at 18v via an internal voltage regulator. I made this pedal with the idea to create a distinction for my own sound, and what I found is that it is an extremely useful tool for capturing a lot of different types of sounds. I am most proud of the lower gain side, as I feel it is the most unique section of the pedal, but I must also include that the gain section is extremely sweet sounding throughout, especially for heavy and complex chords. There is a midrange punch that I love and a warmth and thickness that reminds me a bit of a ribbon mic. When the development of this pedal turned into something new and unique, it became the catalyst to starting 1981 Inventions, so I decided to make this the first official release.

The Slötvå Multi Texture Reverb is a variant of the Slö but adds on the ability to create and save three presets. Save your favorite dreamscapes by simultaneously pressing and holding down on the bypass and sustain switches. Scroll through them by simultaneously pressing and releasing bypass and sustain.

The Slötvå allows players to create lush, modulated, sleepy, and ambient soundscapes. Stocked with three different algorithms specifically designed to invoke textures for bringing dreams from your subconscious to reality.

The toggle switch allows three different reverb modes, Dark (Lower Octave), Rise (Ambient Swell), and Dream (Latching Pad), while secondary functions on the switch change between different wave shapes for the modulation on the reverb trail.

Das EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 klingt ein wenig so, wie es aussieht: Wie ein Sound-Zauberer, der eine riesige Höhle betritt und sich in die Ambient-Reverb-Schlacht wirft. Das Pedal bietet ein extrem breites Spektrum an unterschiedlichen, riesigen, ausladenden und magischen Ambient-Reverbs und deckt von wilden, verschlungenen Hall-Effekten über atmosphärische, kurze, digitale Delays bis zu Staccato-artigen, rhythmischen Wiederholungen mit bizarren Sounds alle denkbaren Effekte ab. Die Regelmöglichkeiten für Length (Länge des Nachhalls), Dampen (Tone), Reflect (Depth, Regeneration) und Mix (Wet/Dry-Mix) sind bekannte Parameter bei Reverb-Pedalen und arbeiten sehr intuitiv. Der Diffuse-Regler kontrolliert die Streuung des Nachhalls und ermöglicht je nach Setting aggressivere Sounds, bei denen das Einsetzen der einzelnen Wiederholungen deutlicher hörbar oder weicher und verwaschener wird. Der Drag-Regler trennt die digitalen Delay-Gruppen voneinander. So rücken den Repeats je nach Setting näher aneinander (Hall-ähnlicher Effekt) oder werden auseinander gezogen, sodass statt eines Halls verstreute Ping-Pong-Effekte zu hören sind.

The EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 sounds a lot like it looks: a sound wizard bursting forth from ethereal cave and ready for the ambient reverb battle. The pedal offers an extremely wide range of different, vast, expansive, and magical ambient reverbs and covers all possible effects from wild and cavernous reverb effects to atmospheric reverberations of short digital delays to scattered, rhythmic delays with bizarre characteristics. The controls for Length (decay length of the reverb), Dampen (tone), Reflect (depth, regeneration) and Mix (wet/dry mix) are well-known parameters for reverb pedals and work very intuitively. The Diffuse knob adjusts the spread of the reverb, turned counterclockwise, the reverb is sharper with more attack, resulting in a stuttering sputter of individual early reflections. Clockwise casts a washy, more ambient-sounding effect. Drag separates the individual digital delay lines, clockwise positions will gather the delay lines close together for a more reverb-like effect. Turn the Drag counterclockwise, and the delay lines will begin to pull apart for a scattered ping-pong delay effect.

It’s equally beautiful and sensitive as it is excessive and rowdy. It’s a delay and a chorus, nor really is it either, with a permanent noise floor, dirt, humanity, it modulates itself based on the strength of the affected signal, it becomes unpredictable.

This is an ABY switch which lets you send your input to either the A or B outputs, or to both simultaneously.

This ABY pedal comes with the added benefits of being active and having the B output going via an isolation transformer. With the pedal being active means that there will be no signal loss when the input signal is split to both outputs, and having output B going via an isolation transformer means there will be no ground hum issues.
