Ottobit X (Pink Limited Edition)

MULTI
Description
With the new Ottobit X, Meris presents the logical evolution of its legendary Ottobit series. This effects unit combines the characteristic lo-fi sounds, bit-crushing effects, and digital artifacts of the 1980s with modern DSP technology and an enormous creative sonic range. The result is a powerful stereo platform for sound design, experimental sound processing, and innovative performance effects.
At the heart of the Ottobit X is a modular degradation engine that selectively distorts audio signals, imbuing them with the charm of old video games, VHS tapes, and digital hardware from past decades. In addition to sophisticated bit-crushing and sample rate reduction, the device offers numerous new sonic tools, including glitch effects, pitch shifting, modulation, filters, preamps, and specially developed VHS reverb and delay algorithms.
The six different glitch modes are particularly noteworthy. These include Grain Freeze, Stutter, Tape Stop, and two creative one-button loopers. A true highlight is the "Wikki Wikki" function, which generates real-time vinyl scratching effects, opening up entirely new possibilities for live performances. Variable tape stop effects and rhythmic stutter effects further enhance dynamic and modern sound textures.
For sound shaping, three different filter types, five pitch algorithms, five modulation types, and four preamp models are available. This allows the signal to be shaped from subtle vintage colorations to extreme, experimental soundscapes. The combination of these modules enables an extraordinary range of sounds—from nostalgic retro effects to futuristic glitch and ambient creations.
Operation is via the modern color display and the user interface familiar from Meris' flagship LVX and MercuryX models. With 99 memory locations, numerous factory and artist presets, and comprehensive MIDI and expression pedal functions, the Ottobit X is suitable for both studio use and demanding live applications. Thanks to stereo inputs and outputs, high-quality 24-bit converters, and a 32-bit floating-point DSP, the device also delivers professional-grade audio quality.
The Meris Ottobit X is aimed at guitarists, synthesizer players, producers, and sound designers seeking exceptional sonic textures. It combines the creative freedom of modular sound processing with the intuitive operation of a modern effects pedal, opening up a fascinating world of retro charm, lo-fi aesthetics, and innovative sound design.Available in Shop
