Description
The MXR M66 Classic Overdrive is a versatile overdrive pedal designed to provide warm, organic tube-like grit while preserving the guitar's natural character. It features a straightforward three-knob interface consisting of Output, Tone, and Gain to sculpt sounds ranging from subtle clean boosts to rich, mid-focused saturation. The circuit is widely recognized as being based on the classic Tube Screamer platform, offering a smooth harmonic response and improved clarity over traditional designs. A notable feature of the M66 is an internal "Easter egg" slide switch on the PCB that allows users to toggle the circuit between the stock "Classic" mode and a "Zakk Wylde" (ZW44) mode for higher gain and a different EQ curve. The pedal is housed in a durable die-cast enclosure with a signature green finish and utilizes a hard-wired bypass. It was originally released as a limited edition exclusive for Guitar Center.Media
