M117 Flanger (70's)

FLANGER
Description
The original 1970s MXR M117 Flanger is a classic analog modulation effect housed in a large "AC Box" chassis with a hardwired power cord. It utilizes Reticon SAD1024 bucket-brigade device (BBD) chips to produce a wide array of sounds ranging from subtle chorusing and vibrato to jet-plane sweeps and metallic resonances. The four-knob interface controls Manual, Width, Speed, and Regeneration, offering deep tonal flexibility for shaping the sweep's intensity and frequency. Known for its warm, organic character, it became a staple on legendary recordings and helped define the sound of late 70s rock. Its high-voltage internal operation provides significant headroom compared to contemporary battery-powered units.Media
