Featuring a unique circuit design, the MXR FET Driver captures the rich, creamy sound of an overdriven tube amplifier by cascading an op-amp gain stage into a FET stage. The FET Driver thickens up lead tones with musical, amp-like distortion and sustain without the fragility and inconsistency associated with tubes.

The FET Driver features a simple but responsive set of controls. Set your volume level with the Output control, and then use the Drive control to dial in the grit, from subtle soft-clipping to early stage distortion. Fine tune the FET Driver’s sound by tweaking Hi and Lo boost/cut controls, and push the Hi Cut switch to roll off high end frequencies when playing in high volume situations where excess noise is apparent.

M264 FET Driver

The MXR Dookie Drive Pedal captures the tones of those amps in a single pedal so that you can dial in your own variations of that famous Dookie sound. We borrowed his amps so that the MXR team could carefully analyze all the sonic qualities that make them sound so darn good. After much analysis and A/B testing, our engineers rebuilt the amps from scratch in pedal circuit form and fit them into a single housing. The High Gain and Crunch Gain sections each have their own controls, while the Blend control allows you to mix them together just like Green Day did in the studio. If you want some extra scoop in the midrange of the overall output signal, just hit the Scoop switch.

Ambient soundscapers and tonal experimenters rejoice, the MXR Layers lands to offer new angles on classic sustain effect formulas. Cool and compact, this pedal matches thoughtful MXR design with exceptional tonality to result in outstanding sustain effect equations.

Layers bases its main experience off a threefold sustain effect that deals in, its namesake, layers. Three onboard sustain layers play concurrently to one another to fashion complex and interesting weaves of notes, as triggered by a variety of methods. By utilizing the dedicated footswitch, Layers can be played manually to sustain notes or remotely by playing dynamics. The pedal’s Trigger knob control can be used to adjust the sensitivity of the automatic trigger sustain function or disable it altogether to offer early insight into this pedal’s options of interactivity.

 Der Distortion III läuft nomen est omen unter der Gattung Distortion, während der GT-OD ein echter Overdrive ist. Da alle Produkte jedoch aus dem gleichen Haus kommen, ist es schon interessant, Parallelen und Gegensätze anzuzeigen. Alle Geräte kommen mit sehr stabilen Metallgehäusen daher, welche voraussichtlich für ein langes Leben sorgen werden. Alle Testkandidaten sind mit einem True Bypass, einer LED, phosphorisierenden Markierungsstrichen auf den Reglern ausgestattet und arbeiten wahlweise mit einem 9V Block oder einem Netzadapter. Die beiden Distortion-Jungs kommen in einer Art leichten Hammerschlag Lackierung daher, während man dem Custom Shop Kollegen eine Grün-Metallic Lackierung zuteil werden ließ.
