Das MXR FOD Drive kombiniert die Kraft von zwei übersteuerten Amp-Stacks in einem kompakten Effektpedal. Profi-Musiker und Sound-Tüftler kombinieren seit Jahren auf der Bühne und im Studio mehrere Verstärker um mit dem idealen Mischverhältnis völlig neue Sound-Möglichkeiten zu erschaffen. Das MXR Design Team hat diesen Ansatz weiter gedacht und zwei speziell abgestimmte Verstärker sorgfältig analysiert. Einer der Verstärker wurde für einen 'Super-Scoop' High-Gain Sound modifiziert, der andere für einen satten Mid-Range Crunch angepasst. Die Kombination der beiden Verstärker überzeugte mit einer unglaublich komplexen, harmonischen Bandbreite unterschiedlichster Sounds, Drive-Styles und klanglichen Möglichkeiten. Das MXR FOD Drive bietet eine exakte Emulation der beiden Verstärker in zwei getrennten Kanälen (High Gain und Crunch Gain), die sich separat steuern und je nach Geschmack vermischen lassen. Über den Tone-Regler lässt sich zusätzlich das Voicing des Output Signals anpassen und der Scoop-Schalter bietet Musikern die Wahl zwischen einer Flat, Scooped oder Boosted Mid-Range.

The MXR FOD Drive supplies the overdriven power of two highly coveted amp stacks in a single housing. Pros and tonechasers have been combining amplifiers on stage and in the studio for years, blending their sounds together and opening up new tonal palettes for exploration. Thanks to MXR's award-winning team of engineers, you can recreate that experience right from your pedalboard.

The MXR team got their hands on a pair of heavily customized guitar amplifiers of legendary make and model, reveled in thunderous bliss, and then pulled them apart for careful analysis. One of the amps was modified for super scooped high-gain saturation, while the other was modified for punchy midrange crunch. Played in tandem, the complementary tonal profiles revealed a harmonically complex palette of grit, grind, and maxed-out overdrive that sounded so incredible that the team knew they had to make it available to players around the world.

The MXR Fat Sugar Drive brings the Sugar Drive’s diverse range of clear and transparent overdrive tones to MXR’s classic housing for players who prefer its footprint over that of the mini.

This pedal’s versatility comes from its unique Drive control—which replicates an amp’s transition from clean to dirty by blending your clean signal at the start of the sweep—and a little something called a voltage doubler, which increases overall headroom and opens up the sound of the pedal. Together, these elements allow you to serve up everything from a sauced-up boost to full-on blow-tube distortion.

The Fat Sugar Drive is set for true bypass by default, but for the tonal purists who want buffered bypass instead, just remove the bottom plate and flick the internal Buffer switch, close it up, and get to playing. This special edition comes with a custom pink sparkle finish.
