OVERDRIVE
Description
Produced in Japan during the late 1970s and early 1980s, the OD-01 serves as a dynamic overdrive unit designed to deliver smooth saturation and amp-like break-up. The internal circuitry employs a dual operational amplifier configuration, commonly featuring the Texas Instruments TL4558P chip associated with early classic overdrive designs. The topology delivers a touch-sensitive response with transparent clipping and warm midrange coloration closely resembling early Tube Screamer style circuits. Earlier production units were housed in sturdy metal enclosures before manufacturing shifted to molded ABS plastic casings. Three top-mounted potentiometer controls govern output level, drive intensity, and high-frequency tone contouring. Foot switching is handled via a low-profile mechanical bypass stomp switch.Media
