NOISE GATE
Description
Clean instrument input signals control dynamic attenuation to provide transparent, fast noise gating for aggressive rhythm playing and high-gain amplifiers. Built around the THAT Corporation 4301 analog engine chip, the design tracks note decay accurately while eliminating unwanted hiss and hum without truncating natural sustain. The pedal's circuit is derived from the Fortin Zuul architecture, utilizing a dedicated single-knob threshold layout for rapid signal calibration. Initial production units incorporated circuit board assemblies sourced from PedalPCB before full assembly in Melbourne, Australia. Artwork for the powder-coated metal housing was designed in collaboration with illustrator Andrej of All Things Rotten. The gating response clamps tightly on staccato passages while preserving dynamic touch sensitivity during lower-volume sections.
