This preamp is based on the Peavey Bandit from the 2000–2004 era, also known as the “Red Stripe” model. While originally designed as a practice amp, it became a surprisingly influential part of the Scandinavian metal scene, thanks to its versatile solid-state circuit and ability to deliver aggressive tones. When paired with a quality speaker cabinet, the Bandit’s design provides a wide variety of sounds and a broad tonal range. Its flexible tone controls allow players to dial in everything from tight, punchy riffs to crushing, saturated leads, making it an underrated yet powerful high-gain platform.
