This preamp is inspired by the OD1 and OD2 channels of the Marshall Valvestate 8100, known for its thick, saturated high-gain tone that became especially popular among mid-90s metal bands. While the original amp was marketed as a tube/solid-state hybrid, analysis shows that the tube acted mainly as a simple hard-clipping stage—something that can be effectively recreated using clipping diodes when matched correctly. The pedal expands on the original design by adding a second “Post” gain control, which adjusts the signal level entering the clipping stage and unlocks a wider range of tonal variations. This enhancement allows players to fine-tune the amount of saturation and aggression, capturing the spirit of the Valvestate while offering greater flexibilit
