FX25 Envelope Filter

ENVELOPE FILTER
Description
The DOD FX25 Envelope Filter is a classic automatic wah effect produced between 1982 and 1997 as part of the FX series. It is based on a bandpass filter circuit derived from the earlier DOD 440, using the input signal strength to trigger frequency sweeps. The pedal is renowned for its minimalist two-knob interface, featuring Sensitivity to set the threshold and Range to control the sweep's frequency depth. It became a cult favorite among bassists for its ability to produce deep, "dubby" sub-bass tones and distinctive funk "quacks." Notable users like Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers helped solidify its status as a staple for funky, touch-responsive filtering. The original circuit is prized for its simplicity and organic response compared to more modern digital alternatives.Media
