This pedal is based on the 1960s British Dallas Rangemaster, which was best at the time to give a treble and gain boost to the dark British amps. This allowed them to get a sound more in tune with the time, as guitars were starting to become a loud, bold, lead instrument. This pedal is a type of BOOSTER, not really a distortion pedal nor a clean boost- it does modify your sound quite a bit. It excites certain frequencies and pushes your amp to allow it to create rich tube distortion. The pedal colors your tone, with a crunchy overdrive, boosting certain frequencies, and warming the tone with NOS germanium transistors. It does not have a lot of compression and sustain like most OD pedals, but a more raw, open sound.

Durch die Möglichkeit Kompression und Clean Signal stufenlos zu mischen hat jeder die Chance seinen perfekten Sound zu finden. Das Pedal arbeitet mit drei intuitiven Regelmöglichkeiten für Volume, Compression und Blend. Mit dem Volume-Regler lässt sich das Level auf Unity Gain einstellen oder leicht boosten, um den wahrgenommenen Verlust durch die Kompression auszugleichen. Der Compression-Regler regelt die Stärke der Kompression von einer subtilen 'Glättung' des Signals bis zu einem ansprechenden Squash, der sich perfekt für Country, Blues, Pop und Rock eignet. Über den Blend-Regler kann man das Verhältnis aus Clean Signal und komprimiertem Signal einzustellen. Auf diese Weise erhält man den natürlichen Klang des Instruments und erhält gleichzeitig eine Kompression in Studioqualität, die deinen Sound auf die nächste Stufe hebt.

Launched in 1976, the CE-1 Chorus Ensemble was not only the world’s first chorus effect pedal, but also the very first BOSS pedal. Three years later, this inventive new sound was squeezed into the blue CE-2 Chorus, and chorus pedals have remained in the compact lineup ever since. Four decades on, the spacious modulated tone of the signature BOSS effect is still loved by musicians everywhere. In 2016, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of BOSS innovation, the original analog chorus sounds are now reborn with the Waza Craft CE-2W. The CE-2W’s Standard mode faithfully recreates the classic CE-2 chorus sound, and adds an expansive new sound field with stereo output, which was unavailable in the mono CE-2. CE-1 mode fully reproduces the stereo chorus and vibrato sounds of the legendary CE-1, with the addition of variable chorus depth not available in the original pedal. To commemorate the birth of BOSS effects, the CE-2W is made exclusively in Japan, just as the original CE-1 and CE-2 were.
