Description
The El Gato Malo is our take on a classic black LM308 IC based distortion widely used many guitarist since the 70's that has multiple versions, and the "original" being reissued by the original company, but with a fairly large amount of changes.
Just like the original we build ours with the highly sought after NOS LM308 IC, but other than that there's major changes. We love having options, so we added a 6 position switch that lets you choose between 6 different clipping options which include; NOS Si, NOS Ge, Asymmetrical Si/Ge, MOSFET, Asymmetrical LED/Ge, and LED. Next, we turned our attention to making it more bass friendly, so naturally we took a look at the circuit and made changes to increase the low end. Then we ran into a problem, we lost found that it got lost in the mix, and lost clarity when playing bass so we added a buffered blend so you can add as much or as little of your clean tone to the distortion.
Just like you see on the pedals face, El Gato Malo doesn't just play with rats it slays them, doing everything from heavy and crunchy to thick and hairy, and everything in between.Media
