The improved RockBoard® MODs V2 are simple all-in-one patchbays for RockBoard pedalboards with a new, refreshed design, and compact housing. Der „Protein 2 in 1 Overdrive“ ist das Ergebnis einer Zusammenarbeit zwischen David Brown und dem Gitarristen und Produzenten Adam Sniegowski. Nachdem Adam jahrelang auf Tour und im Studio mit Backline-Verstärkern gearbeitet hatte, deren Klangqualität sehr unbeständig sein konnte, wandte er sich an Dave mit dem Wunsch, einen Dual-Overdrive zu entwickeln, der mit jeder Backline, auf die er stoßen würde, großartig klingen würde. Sie begannen mit zwei Overdrive-Effekten, die sie liebten und die sich gut miteinander kombinieren ließen, die jedoch einige inhärente Probleme aufwiesen. Dave machte sich daran, diese Probleme zu beheben, ohne dabei die Seele der Originale zu verlieren.

The Protein 2 in 1 Overdrive is a collaboration between David Brown and guitarist/producer Adam Sniegowski.  After years on the road and in the studio using backline amps that could be very inconsistent,  Adam came to Dave wanting to create a dual overdrive that would sound great with any backline he encountered. They started with two drives they loved, stacked well together, but had a few inherent issues. Dave set out to fix those issues without losing the soul of the originals.

Dreht man den Distortion-Regler ganz nach unten, erhält man einen tiefen, aber kräftigen Gain-Booster. Dreht man ihn auf, erhält man reiche harmonische Obertöne und eine kehlige, fuzzartige Verzerrung.  Die „ secret sauce“ für diese Schaltung war schon immer der Filterregler.  Wenn du ihn gegen den Uhrzeigersinn drehst, schneidet er direkt durch den Mix und sorgt für einen präzisen, hochfrequenten Attack, der deinen Ton mit absoluter Klarheit aufsteigen lässt.  Drehe ihn im Uhrzeigersinn, um das obere Ende zu filtern und einen warmen, butterweichen und dennoch klaren Ton zu erhalten. Diese natürliche Full-Range-Verzerrung, gemischt mit dem einzigartigen Filterregler, liefert einen klassischen Röhrenamp-Sound, der genre- und generationsübergreifend ist.

Based on an infamous circuit from a classic 1980’s high gain distortion pedal, the Ratsbane is Brian’s answer to the countless requests he has received to build his interpretation of this much-loved design.
The full, dynamic range, and sheer sonic force of this circuit is what makes it a true king amongst distortion pedals.  Turn the distortion control all the way down for a deep but powerful gain booster. Crank it up and you will find rich harmonic overtones and a throaty, fuzz-like distortion.  The “secret sauce” for this circuit has always been the filter control.  Turn it counter-clockwise to cut straight through the mix with precision and high-frequency attack that lets your tone soar with absolute clarity.  Turn it clockwise to filter the top end, for a warm, buttery, yet clear tone. This natural full-range distortion, mixed with its unique filter control, delivers a classic cranked tube-amp sound that crosses genres and generations of music.

Das UAFX Ruby ’63 ist das dritte Amp-Modeling-Pedal aus dem Hause Universal Audio und widmet sich der präzisen Nachbildung eines Vox AC30 aus der JMI-Ära der 1960er-Jahre. Drei Kanäle stehen zur Verfügung und natürlich auch eine Nachbildung des typischen Vibrato/Tremolo-Effekts. Dazu gibt es diverse Boost-Funktionen und auf der Lautsprecherseite stehen sechs verschiedene Cabs zur Auswahl.

I know that Universal Audio did a good job of capturing the spirit of an AC30 in the UAFX Ruby ’63 amp emulation, because excitement is the first thing I felt. The Ruby ’63 is lively, explosive, reactive, clear, and, yeah, even pretty chimey. And I was very impressed at how it imparted those qualities to decidedly non-Vox-y black-panel Fender amps, and vintage Fender cabinet emulations in UA’s OX Amp emulator. You know how a lot of pedals claiming to be an amp-in-a-box tend to be vaguely similar in terms of EQ and gain structure, but miss the details? The Ruby ’63 is not that. It’s an exhaustively executed emulation that takes you several miles further down the road to true amp-ness. And it sounds and feels awfully close to the real thing.
