A new era of synth pedal has been ushered in with the Quimera from Bananana Effects, a dual oscillator, three-engine powerhouse that will redefine what you think is possible with your instrument. First and foremost, the proprietary pitch tracking gracing the internal chips of this pedal is rock solid, swift, and incredibly accurate. The three synth engines give you 20 basic, hard-syncable waveforms, 30 morphing wavetables, and a sample engine that accurately detects the root note and matches it perfectly with the incoming audio. Oscillator A can use any of these synth engines while Oscillator B can only use the 20 basic waveshapes. This gives you an astonishing amount of creative flexibility whether you use the built-in sounds or design your own. After you find the perfect sound you can shape it with the filter options, of which you have plenty: four low pass filters, a 12dB band pass filter, two high pass filters, and a formant filter with all the vowels. An incredible amount of modulation is available with two LFOS, three ADSRs, and an envelope follower. Assign them to just about any parameter and create enveloping and intoxicating worlds as subtle or extreme as you'd like. To round everything out, a gang of four effects—Drive, Mod, Delay, and Reverb—let you finalize or experiment with your sound. Aside from the pitch tracking and synth engine, handy features like having three sounds assigned to the footswitches, expression pedal input, and 128 presets give an experience that is holistic and thoughtful. Couple that with MIDI control over the parameters and the option to output MIDI notes directly from your playing, and Quimera becomes more than just an effect, offering a creative central nervous system designed to integrate into your process effortlessly.
