Under construction. So far it was always on DIY boards (plywood board, even one in a keyboard case)

- Everything that needs to be operated (not just switched, this would be done using the ES-8) during a song is in front (wah, volume, expression, flanger, looper and the switcher of course)

- Volume pedal 1 controls input volume, since I don't feel comfort with controlling the volume with the knob on the guitar (question is how to deal with pedals that like most direct contact to the guitar; ES-8 has the option to put buffers everywhere before or behind a loop, so I hope I will find the perfect setting)

- Volume pedal 2 controls overall volume into the amp (mine is a very clean one, so it does not affect overdrive that much)

- All pedals go into the ES-8. Since it has only 8 loops, I have to group pedals that I will never switch during a song, so I would not have to stomp on them. Modulation is one group (Small Stone, Zero Point, Nuvibe), overdrive is another (Tube Driver, Zendrive; ok, maybe I would sometimes stack them), Delay is a third (Echorec, Belle Epoch)

- Loop 8 of the ES-8 goes to a multi effect (Roland GP-16), that's what the EV-5 is used for

- Polytune 3 gets its signal from ES-8

- Ditto+ at the end of course

- Not sure if I really need the Quad Box. And if so it's 
maybe not necessary to put it on the board

MXR knows phasers. The Phase 90's compact size, superior construction, and refined sound put MXR on the map, and it set the standard by which all other phasers are judged. Two years later, MXR released the Phase 45—a mellower version of the effect favored for its ability to easily blend into a band's mix. Now, you can get both iconic circuits in a single pedal while tightening up your pedalboard at the same time. The Phase 95 combines the Phase 45 and Phase 90 circuits in a mini housing with about half the footprint of a standard MXR pedal. The 45/90 switch toggles between the Phase 45 mode's subtle two-stage phasing and the Phase 90 mode's more pronounced four-stage phasing, while the Script switch toggles between two phasing styles. The Phase 95 is set to modern style phasing by default, which relies on feedback to create light harmonic distortion and gives the effect a more accentuated swoosh. Engaging the Script switch removes feedback for a lusher, more subdued sound with higher headroom and greater clarity. The familiar Speed control sets the rate of the effect. The Phase 95 may be small, but it's full of rich phase tones, and it'll take a beating on the road.

Der Detour, den ich mir selbst aus Teilen des Anbieters "Das Musikding" gebaut habe, ist ein Schalter, der Ein- und Ausgang vertauscht. Er wird vor ein Wah-Pedal geschaltet um zwischen normaler Verschaltung und der umgekehrten Verschaltung hin- und herschalten zu können. Stöpselt man die Gitarre in den Ausgang eines Wah-Pedals und führt den Eingang zum Amp (oder weiteren Pedalen), ertönt abhängig von der Wahl des Pickups ein schrilles Quietschen, dessen Einsetzen und Frequenz über die Regler einer Stratocaster-Gitarre gesteuert werden kann. Dieser sogenannte Seagull-Effekt (wegen der Ähnlichkeit zum Schrei einer Möwe) wurde von David Gilmour zufällig durch eine versehentliche falsche Verkabelung entdeckt und in einigen Songs von Pink Floyd verwendet, am auffälligsten im Stück Echoes.

The Detour, which I built myself using parts from the supplier "Das Musikding", is a switch that swaps the input and output. It is connected in front of a wah pedal so that you can switch back and forth between normal wiring and the reverse wiring. If you plug the guitar into the output of a wah pedal and route the input to the amp (or other pedals), depending on the choice of pickup, you will hear a shrill squeak, the onset and frequency of which can be controlled using the controls on a Stratocaster guitar. This so-called Seagull effect (because of its similarity to the cry of a seagull) was discovered by David Gilmour accidentally through accidental miswiring and used in several Pink Floyd songs, most notably in the track Echoes.

Its origin is so uncertain that even the people who were involved at that time are not sure of the circumstances through which this model went out into the world. What is clear is that in 1969, a legendary guitarist used it in a historic performance, drawing the attention of guitarists all around the world.

Now for more than half a century, it has reigned as a great effect unit. This enigmatic classic in the history of effect devices has been reborn under the ideal conditions of the supervision of the original developer.  The Catalinbread Belle Epoch Tape Echo, has tape echo sounds so authentic you’d swear there was tape inside the pedal! Inspired by the Maestro Echoplex, EP-3 model, perhaps the most famous tape delay ever, the Belle Epoch features everything we love about the EP-3 in a small, maintenance free pedal format. We felt that a “tape echo” pedal was much more than just a standard digital delay with some “filtering” on the repeats. There are a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle traits of the Echoplex that needed to be implemented in order to be authentic. The preamp, the self-oscillation character, the ability to control the “record level” of the signal hitting “tape”, the wow and flutter, the way the repeats decay, the way the circuit interfaces with the amp and other pedals – all these things were important to get right. The original unit was used as a musical instrument unto itself and this is what we captured with the Belle Epoch.

Es ist unklar, wie genau das Flanging entstanden ist. Klar ist jedoch: Die mechanische Studiomethode zur Erzeugung dieses Effekts wurde innerhalb eines Jahrzehnts so verbreitet, dass Unternehmen begannen, den Effekt elektronisch zu simulieren. Diese elektronischen Ansätze waren anfangs innovativ und aufregend, doch in den 80ern wirkten sie abgenutzt und langweilig.

Bei Catalinbread führen wir das darauf zurück, dass diese Geräte den Flanging-Effekt mithilfe eines LFOs erzeugten, der sich in einem vorhersehbaren Tempo auf- und abbewegte – und damit dem Effekt seine Lebendigkeit und Frische nahm. Als wir beschlossen, einen eigenen Flanger zu entwickeln, war uns klar, dass wir ihn so angehen würden, wie es ursprünglich gemacht wurde …


It’s uncertain what exactly the origin of flanging was. It could have been the result of trying to push the boundaries of multitrack recording, probably due to running a couple tape machines in parallel but not quite in sync… Maybe a guy messing around in the studio brushed up against a take-up reel flange accidentally?  Maybe that guy was Les Paul, maybe it was John Lennon and George Martin? It is unclear. But, what is clear is that the mechanical studio method of achieving the effect became, within a decade, commonplace enough for companies to simulate the effect electronically. The electronic approaches were pretty cool and groundbreaking, but by the 80s became tired and worn out. At Catalinbread we attribute this to the fact that these units controlled the flange effect using an LFO that went up and down at a predictable rate taking the life and freshness out of the effect. When we decided to design a flanger, we knew we would approach it the way they originally did it…

Es war der Oktober im Jahr 1971, als die Mannen von Pink Floyd ihr berühmtes Werk „Live at the Pompeii“ im Amphitheater der gleichnamigen italienischen Stadt aufnahmen. Stets mit dabei war eines der wohl angesagtesten Effektgeräte der damaligen Zeit – das Binson Echorec. Wohl kaum ein anderes Gerät prägte so maßgeblich den Sound von Pink Floyd der frühen Jahre wie dieses Echogerät, dessen Prinzip auf einer rotierenden Magnetscheibe basierte, die mit vier Tonköpfen das Signal aufnahm bzw. abspielte. Dabei machte nicht nur Leadgitarrist Dave Gilmour vom Echorec gebrauch, auch Bassist Roger Waters und Tastenmann Richard Wright nutzen diese Maschine ausgiebig.

The Binson Echorec was so cool we had no choice but to bring it back. And we wanted to bring it back right. We wanted to take all the goodness of that huge Binson Echorec and squeeze it down into a standard sized stompbox without losing anything. In fact, in addition to not losing any of the qualities that made it such a compelling musical device, we wanted to EXTEND its capabilities because the original Binson hinted at possibilities that it couldn’t realize. We’re talking about variable delay time! We thought, “What if we had the same four playback head concept but could stretch the delay time out beyond the 300mS of the original Binson?” Then the rhythmic patterns suggested by the various combinations of those four playback heads could really come to life!

The design and sound is the same as the original (as supplied to Eric Johnson, David Gilmour, etc) but with improved parts such as Switchcraft all metal jacks, click pots, etc.
Each unit is hand built to my specs and I personally check out each Tube Driver to perfection. Then I engrave my signature on the bottom of the case. This insures authenticity now and in the future!

Many guitarists of the late 60s and early 70s knew how to get a rough earthy and unmistakable sound out of their humbucking pickups and tube amplifiers, which in retrospect has not been possible to recreate so far. BSM has dedicated so many booster pedals to this subject to receive these historical sounds with every tube amp, that offers a powerful clean or crunch character. But it ́s impossible to drive a treble booster pedal into saturation so the idea came up to develop a stand-alone version you can also use in front of a clean amp to get some crunch without the typical mid-honk sound and to replace the overdrive pedals on your pedalboard.

Heritage Crunch Booster

BSM decided to take the idea of this classic Rock sound and came up with a completely different solution to hit the target. Not interested in making a simple copy of the circuit but developing own ideas to realize the functions with silicon transistors. What you get now is a flexible high gain treblebooster/preamp combination optimized for medium humbucker pickups that works also very well with P90s and singlecoils. It is intended to hit the high treble input of a British Plexi-type amp (or other classic British oriented tube amps) hard. What came out is a real monster, working at 18 volts. But we have to admit that it still works very well with 9 volts, just a little less monstrous. It also comes with a status LED. The preamp stage is a mild treblebooster of low noise followed by a high gain silicon output stage that can easily be symmetrically driven into saturation.

The BSM J-Fuzz stompbox is a faithful recreation of the old original Jennings Fuzz from the late 60's. Tom Jennings was founder and master-mind of the VOX company in the late 50's, accompanied by his friend and technician Dick Denney, who engineered the famous VOX AC30 amp as well as the VOX Defiant transistor amp with a built-in fuzz circuit. Both amps became well-known and famous because of the Beatles, who used those amps.
