The Duality Dual Fuzz from Darkglass Electronics offers not one but two distinct fuzz circuits, which can be blended any way you choose with your clean signal, therefore creating a whole range of fuzztone filth.

Classily presented in a brushed silver matte finish with a mirror chromed top facing, the four black controls all turn reassuringly smoothly while the stomp button is solid and firmly operated: the whole pedal is evidently built to last.

The Blend control ranges from a clean signal when turned fully left to a positively dripping fuzztone when panned fully right, although it is possible to hear both the clean and effected signals simultaneously. Level adds grit and distortion, while the Filter control increases the resonance, top end clarity and definition.

Impressively, articulation is never lost with this pedal, although if  you prefer to lessen the high-end characteristics (we're after fuzz, not fizz, after all), roll off the Filter control to your preference as any dodgy fretting or mistakes will stand out like a sore thumb. Warm and rich, just as a great fuzz pedal should be, the power and aggression which this pedal is able to conjure up is mightily impressive.

Back in the good ol’ days, it was a popular practice to send a bass guitar signal to a bass amp and a guitar amp at the same time – known as Bi-Amping. This allows the player to keep their low end deep, clean and defined whilst amplifying the mids and top end separately, adding distortion or crisp highs with total control.

Designed in collaboration with Darkglass Electronics, the 35th Anniversary drive pedal goes full stealth with a black and gold colour scheme and a special 35th Anniversary logo box. Aside from the engage switch (which illuminates a very cool LED) and the usual in/out and DC power sockets, the pedal has three controls – level, drive and tone. As with all Darkglass pedals, you also get true bypass switching, a particularly hard-wearing footswitch and a super-bright LED.

While this is a stompbox capable of some impressive high gain sounds, it’s been designed to be equally effective at lower, more classic levels of drive and to be sensitive to bass playing dynamics. “We’ve blended old-school vibes, appealing visuals and some modern production techniques to create a pedal that has much more versatility than you might have assumed,” said Sheldon Dingwall. “It’s really been designed to capture the dynamic interaction between you and your bass. There’s plenty of dynamic range before the crunch really sets in.”

Geddy Lee tritt seit der „Test for Echo“-Tour 1996 ohne Verstärker und Lautsprecher auf der Bühne auf und bevorzugt stattdessen große Haushaltsgeräte. Um seine Ausrüstung für neue Projekte zu optimieren, entwickelte Geddy zunächst gemeinsam mit Tech 21 einen Signature SansAmp, den GED-2112. Diese anspruchsvolle Zusammenarbeit beinhaltete die Verdichtung einer Rackladung an Equipment auf einer einzigen Rackfläche. Geddy dazu: „Der GED-2112 ist im Grunde die Fortsetzung meines langjährigen Ansatzes für Basssound. Ein ‚tiefer, klarer‘ Klang gepaart mit dem ‚kantigen Crunch‘, den ich vom SansAmp RPM erreiche – alles in einem Gerät.“

Der GED-2112 Rackmount führte ein neues Konzept für paralleles Pre-Amping ein – mit zwei separaten internen Vorverstärkern. Dieses Konzept wurde auch beim kompakten SansAmp YYZ-Pedal übernommen, um die Mischung der beiden Signalwege zu vereinfachen. Der SansAmp DI-2112 vereint das Design eines Rackmount-Pedals mit der Mobilität eines Pedals und bietet ein weiteres neues Format, das sowohl auf dem Studio-Tisch als auch auf einem Amp-Topteil zu Hause ist.

Die Drive-Vorverstärkersektion basiert auf dem vielseitigen SansAmp RPM und bietet ein breites Spektrum an Klangmöglichkeiten. Die Deep-Vorverstärkersektion bietet satte, kernige Sounds. Geddy Lee has been performing without onstage amps and speakers since the Test for Echo Tour in 1996, favoring major household appliances instead. Wanting to streamline his gear for new projects, Geddy initially partnered with Tech 21 to design a Signature SansAmp, the GED-2112. This challenging collaboration involved distilling a rackload of equipment into a single rackspace. According to Geddy, “The GED-2112 is really a continuation of my long-time approach to bass tone. A ‘deep clean’ tone coupled with the ‘edgy crunch’ I get from the SansAmp RPM now all in one box.”

The GED-2112 rackmount introduced a new framework for Parallel Pre-Amping –having two separate internal pre-amps. Following this concept, the compact SansAmp YYZ pedal adapted the architectural structure to simplify blending the two signal paths. Merging the design of the rackmount and the portability of the pedal, the SansAmp DI-2112 offers yet another new format that is designed to be equally at home on a studio desk-top as well as an amp-top.

The Drive pre-amp section is based upon the versatile SansAmp RPM, for a wide range of sonic possibilities. The Deep pre-amp section offers thick, meaty tones. Saturation goes from clean in lower settings to increased harmonics and tube-like compression in higher settings. You can use either section independently or blend them externally direct to a mixing board as well as to two amplifiers.

Each Geddy Lee Signature SansAmp offers Geddy’s core sound and the versatility for many different styles.

Frank Bello ist dafür bekannt, dass er Anthrax seinen eigenen Stil und seine energiegeladene Leidenschaft einbringt. He somehow manages to merge complex melodic riffs, not typically associated within that genre, with dizzying speed and accuracy —all while headbanging, romping around the stage, and dashing up to the mic to sing harmonies.

In addition to the specific tones Frank wanted, a major priority was to make the Street Driver 48 simple to operate. He didn’t want a zillion knobs, switches, or gratuitous bells & whistles. He wanted players to be able to get a great sound right out of the box, whether it’s for metal or R&B or prog rock, whether novice or expert, whether young or advanced in years.

Whether you’re a MIDI-meister or amongst the MIDI-mindless, the MIDI Moose is a super simple, stage-friendly alternative to access 128 patches. Tech 21’s intuitive engineering eliminates the intimidation of trying to decipher an encyclopedia-sized manual just so you can change a darn program. Like its MIDI Mouse cousin, the MIDI Moose is also battery operable and provides a minimum of 200 hours usage. Midi Moose

A super-compact adaptation of his Tech 21 Ultra Bass 1000 Signature head, the DP-3X also recreates the sound dUg originally developed way back in the ‘80s, merging high-end distortion with low-end bass. Prior to his signature head, this involved running a guitar amp and a bass amp together, along with rack full of effects. Wanting to further streamline his gear for occasions when his full Tech 21 rig simply isn’t practical, dUg collaborated on the all-analog DP-3X pedal. Personally beta-testing the DP-3X on a European tour, dUg encountered a different backline in each and every venue. But no matter which amp was on stage, dUg was able to nail his immense tone each and every night.

In addition to achieving dUg’s unique tone, the DP-3X has the flexibility to provide traditional bass amp sounds as well. Mix mode engages Drive to bring in distortion and Chunk for upper harmonics. A Gain button provides additional distortion and compression. In clean/full-range mode, Drive and Chunk disengage, while Comp and Gain remain active. Other controls include 3-band active EQ with switchable Mid and a master Volume. Features include chromatic tuner, headphone capability, and an XLR Output to go direct to the PA desk or studio board without compromising detail, warmth or responsiveness.
