A collaboration between veteran producers Will Putney and Kurt Ballou, Pariah is a devastating fuzz with extreme tone-shaping capabilities inspired by one of Will’s favorite dirt boxes. At its heart are four silicon transistors hand selected to produce harmonically rich yet articulate fuzz. Modern passive components and relay bypass switching ensure low self-noise and reliability for years to come. The three tone controls—Tilt, Mid, and Shape—are quite interactive. Tilt adjusts the overall balance between bright and dark. Mid controls the amount of mid scoop. Shape (along with the position of the Tilt knob) adjusts the mid frequency.

Pariah

If there were a Venn Diagram showing the overlap between ‘90s British shoegaze and ‘90s Swedish death metal, Jugendstil would feel right at home in the middle. The circuit starts with a simple, high-gain silicon fuzz section which cleans up extremely well and can even be used as a clean boost at low settings. That’s all well and good, but Jugendstil’s secret weapon is a fully maxed out HM-2 style EQ, labelled “loud” and wired as a parallel blend — use the loud control to blend in as much or as little of the HM-2 sound as you like!  The sweep control (labelled "focus" on these blemished units) controls the center frequency of the mid boost.  Set it around 1 o'clock for the classic HM-2 sound.

HIGH-GAIN DISTORTION

Not Brutalist Jr., not BJR, this is BRUTALIST!  After over 10 years of development, this pedal is finally dialed and ready to be unleashed on the masses.  Its a high gain distortion with a boost-only active Baxandall EQ, but the real magic is in the band-pass and all-pass filters which work in tandem to create deeply affected distortion textures ranging from massively scooped brickwalls of fuzz, to cocked-wah lofi lead tones, to almost saw-like bass tones.

Brutalist

Inspired by Rat and Muff circuits and with a new old stock LF351 at its heart, Bad Larry forges its own path through a forest of daggers into a putrid sea of grime.  A favorite around the studio for clanky bass, it's also fun for thick, saggy fuzz tones.   

"Bass" switch affects how much low end is allowed into the clipping stage.

"Clip" switch changes between hard clipping, boost, and bass boost modes. 

"Mid" switch affects the character of the Muff-style tone stack, allowing for the traditional mid cut sound, as well as flat and boosted mid responses. 

Bad Larry

Onslaught is a simple yet highly useful one-knob distortion for pushing medium-gain tube amps.  It's also an awesome transparent boost for guitar or bass. 

This updated version expands upon the original with the addition of a "Mode" switch.  "B" for boost is the original sound, "D" for distortion adds hard clipping to increase distortion and decrease output, and "S" for sub, which applies hard clipping to only the high frequencies, resulting in a perceived sub frequency boost.
