FEA Labs is pleased to announce the new design of the feature-rich Dual Band Optical Compressor-Limiter.  This new design includes a limiter switch which provides infinity to one compression so the pedal can be used as a limiter when you need it and the crossover frequency range has been broadened to include lower frequencies so that the limiter can keep a cap on the lowest frequencies.  The upper compression range has been increased to 7:1 to allow you to dial in more “squash” as needed.  The threshold range has been lowered to accommodate lower output instruments and the taper of the control has been changed to provide a more even range.  All frequencies above 5KHz are routed around the compression circuits and mixed back into the signal at the output amplifier to preserve signal purity.

Another feature in the FEA OPTI-FET Compressor is the extensive side-chain control which is not commonly found in most pedal type compressors today. Like many quality studio rack compressors, the OPTI-FET compressor has all of the common controls available to the user to accurately shape his or her tone.

Opti-FET Compressor

The FEA DUAL ENGINE COMPRESSOR LIMITER is designed with both audiophile and studio quality features that many musicians will appreciate.

The FEA DE-CL utilizes two sidechain control engines for audio signal dynamics control. The compressor sidechain is based off of the FEA Opti-FET compressor sidechain for its smooth compression qualities. The DE-CL’s limiter sidechain is optimized specifically for high performance limiter operation. The limiter has an adjustable attack so that it can also be used as a very high ratio compressor if desired. Both the limiter and compressor control a single optical gain cell in the audio path for parallel processing of the audio signal dynamics. This compressor and limiter configuration allows for multi-slope compression that is found in some high-end rack units.
