Jim Dunlop widmet dem „Master of Fuzz“ mit dem JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face eine akribisch detailgenaue Reproduktion seines „Dallas Arbiter FuzzFace“, welches Hendrix während seiner Karriere sehr oft und sehr gern einsetzte. Exakt mit diesem raunenden wabernden Sound bringt man Jimi Hendrix immer wieder in Verbindung. Kenner sehen auf den ersten Blick, dass Gehäuse, Schalter und Knöpfe exakt dem altehrwürdigen Vorbild entsprechen. Auch beim Innenleben hat man den Eindruck, Jimi’s Original-Pedal in Händen zu halten:
Herzstück des Pedals ist ein BC-108 Silizium-Transistor, auf einer braunen Platine ohne Lötmaske, komplett handverdrahtet wie früher. Jim Dunlop verwendet exakt den originalen Schaltkreis. Puristisch wie beim Vorbild sind auch die Anschlüsse: Das JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face verfügt über je einen Klinken-Ein- und -Ausgang, die Stromversorgung erfolgt ausschließlich per 9V-Batterie bei minimalem Verbrauch. Das Jim Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face wird selbstverständlich in den USA und in liebevoller Handarbeit hergestellt.

<b>Zur Vorgeschichte</b>

Hendrix war der Meister des Fuzz – und mit seinem persönlichen Fuzz ein facettenreicher Künstler. Seine Neigung zum legendären „Fuzz Face“-Pedal begann bereits Anfang der „Experience“-Zeit, und entwickelte sich während seiner kurzen, aber glänzenden Karriere. Das Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face stellt eine akribisch genaue Reproduktion des 1969-70er Jahre Dallas Arbiter FuzzFace dar, das Jimi auf klassischen Alben, wie ‚Band of Gypsys’, oft eingesetzt hat. 
Dunlop’s unermüdliche Techniker untersuchten zahlreiche alte „Fuzz Face“-Modelle, um die speziellen Bauteile ausfindig zu machen, welche den unverkennbaren „Jimi Voodoo“ bieten. Das Jim Dunlop JH-F1 Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face wurde um den klangstarken BC-108 Silizium-Transistor herum aufgebaut. Jedes Teil ist authentisch - eine handverlötete, braune Platine ohne Lötmaske und ein Schaltkreis, der sich sorgfältig an den originalen Vorgaben orientiert. His love affair with the legendary Fuzz Face pedal began in the early days of the Experience and continued to evolve throughout his brief but blazing career. The Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face is a meticulously faithful reproduction of the 1969-70 Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face that Jimi used on classic albums like Band of Gypsys. Dunlop's engineering department examined hoards of vintage Fuzz Faces, honing in on a few units which possessed that unmistakable Jimi voodoo. The Hendrix Fuzz Face is built around the toneful BC108 silicon transistor. It is authentic in every detail, a handwired brown circuit board with no solder mask and circuitry carefully matched to the original specs. The look is 100% accurate too, that groovy circular chassis with tooled clones of the original Fuzz Face knobs in the rare and vintage turquoise hammertone finish. Dimebag Darrell kombinierte die Attitüde eines Cowboys mit High-Gain Riffs und schreienden Leads voller Pinch Harmonics. Eines der wichtigsten Elemente seines Sounds war das Cry Baby Wah, dass er in einer Zeit spielte, als Wah-Pedale lange aus der Mode waren. Durch seine Erfahrung aus jahrelangen Touren half Dimebag Dunlop bei der Entwicklung des flexibelsten Wah-Pedals aller Zeiten: Dem Dime Cry Baby From Hell Wah. 

Dunlop baute das Dime Cry Baby Wah-Pedal auf der Grundlage des 535Q, nahm die Q-Control, den 6-Wege Range Schalter und den schalt- und regelbaren Boost, modifizierte die Sweep Range speziell nach den Bedürfnissen von Dimebag, fügte einen Regler für die max. Sweep Range und einen zweiten Output hinzu und installierte zwei Status LEDs an der Rückseite des Pedals, die den Zustand von Wah und Boost anzeigen. Als letztes Detail wurde die klassische Gummi-Matte auf der Oberseite durch Skateboard Skip Tape getauscht, damit das Pedal auch in Kontakt mit Feuchtigkeit absolut rutschfest bleibt.

Dimebag Darrell combined a cowboy’s swagger with high-gain riffs and squealing pinch harmonic-laden leads. One of the most significant elements of his sound and dynamics was the Cry Baby Wah, and at a time when wah pedals had fallen out of fashion, Dime flew his wah flag high. Armed with his hard-earned expertise and insight from years of touring, he helped Dunlop devise the most versatile wah in their lineup: The Dime Cry Baby from Hell Wah.

Work on this pedal first began some 20 years ago when Dime, a long-time user of the super customizable Cry Baby 535Q Multi-Wah, wanted even more freedom when setting up his rig on stage. Starting with the 535Q, Dunlop carried over its Q control, 6-way range selector, and adjustable kick-in boost. Next, Dunlop hot-rodded it with a wide sweep range for Dime to dig deep and fly high, a control to adjust the pedal’s toe-down frequency, an extra output for splitting your signal to a separate FX chain, and back-mounted LED indicators to conveniently show whether the wah is on and whether the boost is engaged. Finally, Dunlop replaced the standard rubber tread with skateboard skid tape so that your foot doesn’t slip on any spilled beverages.
