The DS-1 Distortion was introduced in 1978 as part of the second wave of compact pedals. With its edgy attack and smooth sustain, it won over guitarists around the world and shaped the sound of numerous rock legends. To mark 40 years of BOSS pedal innovations, we have now released a special edition of the DS-1, the black housing of which is decorated with gold letters and which attracts attention with gold-plated controls and a wing screw in vintage silver for closing the battery compartment in the pedal board and in the display case. The Getaway Driver is an amp-in-a-box type pedal with just three dials – Volume, Bite (tone) and Gain. While the pedal adds its vintage vibe on all amplifiers, it really excels when used with the amplifier’s clean channel, even ones with a bright cap. It also makes a great clean boost, with lower Gain and higher Volume settings pushing amps over the edge into classic overdrive.

The gain structure is produced using single-ended JFET circuitry running in Class A, just like a valve amp. The input buffer, output buffer and Cab Sim are handled using op-amps, using a charge pump to give 18v of headroom.

The Kongpressor is an analogue Class A compression pedal which adds an organic three dimensional quality to any rig. The pedal takes its inspiration from some of the world’s most iconic vintage optical studio units, employing a re-issue of the famous vactrol VTL5C3 optocoupler that was responsible for the sound heard on countless hit records.

At lower compression levels the Kongpressor’s effect is transparent but somehow fattening. It adds mojo and a glossy sheen to your core tone that you’ll truly miss when it’s bypassed. Even at extreme settings, the tone always remains musical with great feel under the fingers.

The Okko Diablo is a versatile, extremely transparent and dynamic Overdrive with lots of gain on tap. The circuit is based on the classic Fuzz Face/Tone Bender but heavily tweaked into something else. We’re using a set of matched low gain silicon transistors here (parts numbers may differ from one unit to another), voiced between germanium warmth and silicon presence.

The Black Beast is a massive sounding fuzz/distortion pedal for guitar or bass.
As you can guess from its name, this is not a smooth vintage germanium fuzz but
a modern distortion machine for all kinds of dirty or heavy sounds.

The magic of the pedal is in the knob called KAPUTT (german for broken/out of order). This control changes the gain structure from plain harmonic distortion to all out nasty fuzz. You can dial in the exact sweet (or not so sweet) spot where you have both: great string separation and clarity of chords AND that buzzy, gnarly crazyness we all love a good fuzz for.
