Crunch Box

Crunch Box
DISTORTION
Description
The MI Audio Crunch Box is a high-gain distortion pedal designed to emulate the sound and feel of a cranked British "plexi" stack. Its circuit is a heavily modified variant of the Marshall Bluesbreaker, utilizing a high-gain op-amp architecture with LED clipping to achieve a rich, amp-like saturation. While the exterior features standard controls for Gain, Tone, and Volume, the pedal is notable for its internal presence trimmer which allows users to calibrate the high-end response to their specific amplifier. Since its 2006 debut, it has undergone several revisions to refine its volume taper and noise floor. The design emphasizes midrange punch and harmonic complexity, functioning as a "Marshall-in-a-box" for clean-platform setups.
