Royal Blue Overdrive offers a wide range of tones from light overdrive into distortion and at lowest Distortion knob setting works as an EQ. It can also be used to create tube amp-like crunchy ‘strike hard for distortion’ effect. There is not much filtering on the overdrive, to provide a transparent tone that you can tailor with both the Treble and Bass controls.

Housed in a beautiful powder coated Blue 16ga. steel enclosure, the dual-channel Full-Drive 2 Mosfet gives you the best of both worlds. The first channel is the Overdrive Mode, capable of clean boost or non-compressed overdrive or choose light to medium softer overdrives all while retaining your guitar's original tone. The Tone knob is a very effective presence control that can smooth out or add upper harmonics. The second channel is the "Boost Mode" with its own separate distortion control for medium to higher gains with a more singing violin-like sustain!

One mini-toggle lets you choose between a "Vintage" FD2 sound with mid-heavy tones that cut through the mix and "FM (flat-mids)" for a more natural, transparent sound that works awesome with a Strat's neck pickup.
The other mini-toggle lets you choose between Mosfet and Normal clipping modes. Normal mode is even more asymmetrical, sweeter and more open, with no "blanket" over the sound.

Das OCD-Pedal ist das einzige Pedal, das zwei MOSFETs verwendet, die als Hard-Clipper auf eine „Spannungsreferenz“ statt wie üblich auf Masse geschaltet sind. Die ersten OCD-Modelle verwendeten zwei MOSFETs sowie eine Germaniumdiode, doch schon bald wurden diese Dioden immer schwerer zu finden und immer teurer.

Vor kurzem bin ich über einen recht großen Vorrat an den richtigen Germaniumdioden gestolpert, also habe ich tief in die Tasche gegriffen und sie alle gekauft. Also beschloss ich, eine Serie des ultimativen OCD zu bauen: ein Custom-Shop-Modell mit ein paar Schaltungsoptimierungen, das 2 x MOSFETs plus 2 x Germaniumdioden verwendet und eine verdammt schöne Lackierung hat... Metallic-Teal mit Chrom-Grundierung! Diese Schönheit wechselt je nach Licht und Blickwinkel zwischen Blau- und Grüntönen. Und was wäre der ultimative OCD ohne eine blaue LED? Der Sound? Tolle Definition, ein eher röhrenähnliches Spielgefühl, ein etwas breiterer Dynamikbereich, mehr Sustain und ein fokussierterer Single-Note-Klang. Und wie bei allen Fulltone-Pedalen... zu 100 % in den USA gefertigt.

The OCD pedal is the only pedal that uses 2 x Mosfets configured as hard-clipping to 'Voltage reference" instead of the usual way: to ground." The earliest OCDs used 2 x Mosfets plus 1 x Germanium diode, but very quickly these diodes became harder and harder to find, and they became expensive.

Recently I stumbled across a reasonably large stash of the right kind of Germanium diodes so I ponied-up and bought all of them. So I decided to do a run of the ultimate OCD: a Custom Shop offering with a few circuit tweaks using 2 x Mosfets plus 2 x Germanium diodes, and one hell of a beautiful paint job... Metallic Teal with a chrome undercoat! This beauty morphs between blues and greens depending on the light and angle. And what would the ultimate OCD be without a Blue LED? The sound? Great definition, more tube-like feel, a bit wider dynamic range, more sustain, and a more focused single-note tone. And as with all Fulltone pedals... 100% Built in the USA.
