The MXR Carbon Copy Analog Delay features a completely analog audio path for the ultimate in rich, warm delay-made possible only by old-school bucket brigade technology. Looking at the OD-9’s circuit, you’ll realize that this is not some redesign being cleverly marketed as a reissue – this is THE original OD-9 (TS-9) circuit, yet with the addition of true bypass switching.  Even the PC board is the same one that Maxon’s been using for the past 30+ years, complete with empty slots where parts for the FET switching circuit have been left out!

Like the original, the current production OD-9 features the NJM (JRC) 4558D Op Amp – an essential component for authentic “TS” tone.  The NJM is smoother sounding and less compressed than other Op Amps, offering superior sound quality with low noise.

Housed in a beautiful powder coated Blue 16ga. steel enclosure, the dual-channel Full-Drive 2 Mosfet gives you the best of both worlds. The first channel is the Overdrive Mode, capable of clean boost or non-compressed overdrive or choose light to medium softer overdrives all while retaining your guitar's original tone. The Tone knob is a very effective presence control that can smooth out or add upper harmonics. The second channel is the "Boost Mode" with its own separate distortion control for medium to higher gains with a more singing violin-like sustain!

One mini-toggle lets you choose between a "Vintage" FD2 sound with mid-heavy tones that cut through the mix and "FM (flat-mids)" for a more natural, transparent sound that works awesome with a Strat's neck pickup.
The other mini-toggle lets you choose between Mosfet and Normal clipping modes. Normal mode is even more asymmetrical, sweeter and more open, with no "blanket" over the sound.

The OCD pedal is the only pedal that uses 2 x Mosfets configured as hard-clipping to 'Voltage reference" instead of the usual way: to ground." The earliest OCDs used 2 x Mosfets plus 1 x Germanium diode, but very quickly these diodes became harder and harder to find, and they became expensive.

Recently I stumbled across a reasonably large stash of the right kind of Germanium diodes so I ponied-up and bought all of them. So I decided to do a run of the ultimate OCD: a Custom Shop offering with a few circuit tweaks using 2 x Mosfets plus 2 x Germanium diodes, and one hell of a beautiful paint job... Metallic Teal with a chrome undercoat! This beauty morphs between blues and greens depending on the light and angle. And what would the ultimate OCD be without a Blue LED? The sound? Great definition, more tube-like feel, a bit wider dynamic range, more sustain, and a more focused single-note tone. And as with all Fulltone pedals... 100% Built in the USA.
