Beta-V Bass Preamp

Beta MKII is a beefed-up version of the original Beta circuit, giving you plenty of tube-like gain without the fizz or hassle. Two modes of operation dictate the amount of grime, tonal colorization, or both. These modes are Preamp and Overdrive.

The Beta MKII’s Preamp side disengages the Gain control for a smooth, even-keeled preamp colorization. Both Tone and Volume controls are active in this position, for a subtle sweetening that you’ll never turn off—think of those old Muscle Shoals tones or an Ampeg B15 Portaflex.

Der SolidGoldFX Imperial MKII ist ein Gatete-Fuzz-Effektpedal, das vom JEN Jumbo Fuzz der 1970er-Jahre inspiriert ist und satte, kraftvolle Fuzz-Sounds sowie eine dynamische Ansprache für Gitarre, Bass oder Synth bietet. Es verwendet eine JFET-Vorverstärker-Schaltung mit hoher Impedanz für ein geringes Rauschverhalten und feine Detailwiedergabe, vier Slideregler zur Kontrolle von Volume, Tone, Contour (Mittenformung) und Fuzz sowie ein verbessertes Rauschgate für nahezu kein Rauschen bei hohen Verzerrungsstufen. Das Pedal hat oben angeordnete Buchsen, zwei LED-Anzeigeleuchten für Bypass- und Gate-Status und eine True-Bypass-Schaltung für unbearbeiteten Klang im Bypass-Modus. Es wird in Kanada handgefertigt und hat ein retro-inspiriertes Design.

Upon first glance at the Imperial MKII, you might be intrigued by its charmingly retro appearance. Inspired by the JEN Jumbo fuzz, which is one of our personal favorite vintage fuzzes, the Imperial MKII’s four sliders, textured black paint and bold red graphics show that this pedal means business.

If a ripping, royally raucous fuzz, with impeccable manners, is what you seek in your tone conquest or whether you are chasing those soaring Gilmour-esque leads that propel you to the far side of the moon, then look no further than the Imperial MKII.

So, what is the JEN Jumbo Fuzz and what makes it so awesome? JEN Elettronica was an Italian manufacturer who made pedals for Vox, Dallas Arbiter and Sound City (among others), in addition to making equipment under their own brand. The Jumbo Fuzz was their spin on the venerable EHX Big Muff® that swapped the knobs out for sliders and added a nifty germanium noise gate. In terms of sound, the tuning of the Jumbo Fuzz lies somewhere in the Ram’s Head camp - not overly scooped or woofy, with a nice gain range - just a great sounding pedal!

While the Jumbo’s noise gate is a great feature and gives this BMP variant a unique attack with practically zero noise, vintage units vary greatly from one unit to another, with some gating too much and others not at all. Capturing the Jumbo Fuzz’s vibe and redesigning the gate was essential to our Imperial redesign. Let’s dive in…

The SolidGoldFX Lysis MKII is a polyphonic octave fuzz modulator pedal that blends a discrete analog fuzz circuit with digital polyphonic voice and filter generation. It offers multiple voicings including octave down, octave up, and power chord settings, selectable high-pass and low-pass filters with adjustable resonance, and three wave modes with 33 different preset LFO settings. It includes a tap tempo LFO with ramping and braking features, fully assignable expression input, and soft touch true bypass switching. The design is intended to expand creative possibilities by merging synth-like modulation and filtering with rich fuzz tones.

Der Buffer ist eine sehr einfache Lösung für ein sehr lästiges Problem - dumpfer Ton. Dumpfer Ton kann durch lange Kabelwege, ausgedehnte Effektketten, Kabel mit hohem Widerstand oder hoher Kapazität, nicht echte Bypass-Effekte, etc. verursacht werden. Jedes zusätzliche True-Bypass-Pedal, das du deiner Effektkette hinzufügst, erhöht sowohl den Widerstand als auch die Kapazität in deiner Signalkette aufgrund der zusätzlichen Patchkabel und Verbindungen. Im Allgemeinen ist es eine gute Praxis, einen Buffer in der Signalkette zu verwenden, der so nah wie möglich an der Gitarre platziert wird, um maximale Effektivität zu erzielen. Das Ergebnis ist ein lebendigerer Ton mit großartiger Ansprache und einem High-End-Funkeln, von dem du nie gedacht hättest, dass du es hast!

The Buffer is a very simple solution to a very annoying problem - dull tone. Dull tone can be caused by long cable runs, extended effects chains, cables with high resistance or capacitance, non true bypass effects, etc. True bypassed pedals are also a cause of dull tone; every extra true bypassed pedal you add to your effects chain increases both resistance and capacitance in your signal chain due to the added patch cables and connections. It is generally good practice to use a buffer in your signal chain, placed as close to the guitar as possible for maximum effectiveness. The result will be a livelier tone with great response and high end sparkle you never thought you had!
