The improved RockBoard® MODs V2 are simple all-in-one patchbays for RockBoard pedalboards with a new, refreshed design, and compact housing. Utilizing the MOD slot on all new RockBoards® (except the DUO series), they provide various cable connections to fit a wide variety of needs as a convenient patchbay. With the RockBoard® MODs, you can permanently connect your pedals underneath your board and organize all connections to and from your effects setup in one convenient module. The RockBoard® MODs provide a central access point from your instrument to your amp, as well as your power supply via IEC, and a 2.1 x 5.5 barrel thru power connector. The RockBoard® MOD 1 V2 is a pass-thru box especially designed for guitar and bass players. Named after Jason and the Argonauts ship, the Argo easy to use fuzz box will transport you to new lands with blissful sonic exploration. Based on the much sought after C.O.B. pedal, the Argo allows you to have a boosted clean tone and a fuzz octave sound with a blend control to dial in the perfect level of filth. 

The Fuzz control when runs the gamut of classic octave fuzz tones, from Hendrix, SRV, Doyle Bramhall II and more. Like most vintage octave boxes the Argo reacts best with single coils above the 10th fret, rolling back your volume helps the octave jump out as well. The octave up effect is ever present, but fuzz control has a huge range of gain. With the fuzz set to minimum you get a slightly gnarly clean octave up, when set to max it’s an all out fuzz explosion.

The Blue Note Select is a “V2” of our favorite circuit. The original Blue Note Pro Series was the first and that included the “Hot” switch. We then introduced the Tour Series that did not have the “Hot” switch. The newest Blue Note Select not only includes the”hot” switch but also includes major improvements to the looks, the sound and the overall feel, all in a very small package. We have gone so far as to have custom knobs made, a custom color mixed to achieve
the electric blue you see and by far the biggest improvement is the low end both in and out of “hot mode”. This could be our best overall low gain drive.

A uniquely designed steel enclosure made with quality components throughout. My goal was to spare no expense. I realize that sometimes in the world of guitar gear, there isn’t always one answer in choosing the best components and designs, so I just picked my favorites. This includes Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks, and a super quiet soft touch switching system via an internal relay.

I have been working on this project for the better part of three years, as a collaboration and with engineering by Jon Ashley of Bondi Effects. I feel that the pedal is unique in design and sonically unlike anything I have ever heard, especially in the lower gain and boost settings. There is a subtlety that feels more like a vintage pedal than a modification of a classic. There are two circuits present in the pedal, one distortion and one preamp boost, running at 18v via an internal voltage regulator. I made this pedal with the idea to create a distinction for my own sound, and what I found is that it is an extremely useful tool for capturing a lot of different types of sounds. I am most proud of the lower gain side, as I feel it is the most unique section of the pedal, but I must also include that the gain section is extremely sweet sounding throughout, especially for heavy and complex chords. There is a midrange punch that I love and a warmth and thickness that reminds me a bit of a ribbon mic. When the development of this pedal turned into something new and unique, it became the catalyst to starting 1981 Inventions, so I decided to make this the first official release.

This pedal is based on our now famous amp-in-a-box Preamp pedal with one important tweak: the replacement of the first FET transistor with a germanium gain stage - stolen from our servo-biased Germanium Boost pedal which is ideal as a versatile gain stage since it reliably imparts a germanium tonality, mostly doesn’t care about temperature, and doesn’t affect frequency response. The result is an alternate universe take on our flagship pedal that marries the incomparable feel of the germanium with the careful equalization and tone controls of the preamp pedal. 

The result is a slightly lower gain, but richer sounding and feeling overdrive/boost/fuzz/whatever we really, really dig. We hope you like it!
