Pettyjohn fans have long requested a distortion, and we have spent several years honing this creation, wanting to live up to it’s fantastical origins and be worthy of the name Pettyjohn.

The ROUS, “Rodent of Unusual Size”, is a highly evolved member of the RAT family. The ROUS features a simple but powerful four knob control set: Level, Gain, Lows and Highs, similar to the other CORE series pedals.

It’s gain range moves from low gain overdrive to unusually large sounding distorted tones quickly with the turn of the GAIN knob. One may take matters of fate into their own hands and journey deeper into the un-known with a flick of the Fire Swamp switch.

Its control set includes a unique Tilt EQ, a sweepable High Pass Filter, and a clipping mix knob for blending between Germanium and LED diodes. The Chime originally derived from the right channel of the flagship PettyDrive and has since evolved into the standalone Foundry Series and MKII versions. It is handmade in the Pacific Northwest, USA, utilizing audiophile-grade components such as Orange Drop capacitors and Burr-Brown op-amps.

Der „Chime“-Kanal liefert ein breitbandiges, niedrig verzerrtes Overdrive oder Boost mit harmonisch reichem, britisch angehauchtem Charakter und natürlicher Kompression wie bei einem übersteuerten Leistungsverstärker. Der „Iron“-Kanal erzeugt ein smoothes, kraftvolles amerikanisches Overdrive, das mit wenig Feintuning auskommt. Eine interne Parallel-Effekt-Schleife im Iron-Kanal ermöglicht flexible Signalführung und kreative Kombinationen mit anderen Pedalen.

One channel (“Chime”) provides a full-range, low-gain overdrive or boost with a harmonically rich, British-style breakup and natural compression related to power-amp “sag.” The other channel (“Iron”) delivers a smooth yet powerful American-style overdrive with minimal tweaking needed. An internal parallel effects loop on the Iron channel enables flexible routing and creative combinations with other pedals.
