We’ve kept your original, dry signal path analog and pure, then given you a +21db boost/overdrive preamp to smash a low fidelity digital delay chip designed for karaoke machines and kids’ toys into smeared, repeated glory. Yeah, we’re going back in time – back to when they measured data in KILOBYTES!

This pedal is VERY capable of fun runaway oscillations, both by turning up the summation knob, or a controlled, high-pass filtered oscillation from the Havoc momentary foot switch. If you’ve ever struggled to make your delays come through prominently in the mix, or lost definition from your original signal, the attack and level controls can allow you to dial up everything from crisp, clean slapbacks to dirty, muted echoes and loud, powerful repeats. A beautiful, subtle modulation circuit courtesy of our friend Jack DeVille also sweetens the repeats with just the right amount of movement.

Das Catalinbread Belle Epoch Delay-Effektpedal orientiert sich am Sound des legendären Maestro Echoplex EP-3, das in den 1970er Jahren zum Arsenal diverser Helden des Rock gehörte, darunter solche Namen wie Brian May, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour oder Eric Johnson. Sie setzten das Delay oft und gerne ein, neben dem warm klingenden Bandecho-Sound auch wegen seines Preamps, mit dem man einen Amp noch etwas heißer anfahren und zu etwas mehr Zerre überreden konnte.

 The Catalinbread Belle Epoch Tape Echo, has tape echo sounds so authentic you’d swear there was tape inside the pedal! Inspired by the Maestro Echoplex, EP-3 model, perhaps the most famous tape delay ever, the Belle Epoch features everything we love about the EP-3 in a small, maintenance free pedal format. We felt that a “tape echo” pedal was much more than just a standard digital delay with some “filtering” on the repeats. There are a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle traits of the Echoplex that needed to be implemented in order to be authentic. The preamp, the self-oscillation character, the ability to control the “record level” of the signal hitting “tape”, the wow and flutter, the way the repeats decay, the way the circuit interfaces with the amp and other pedals – all these things were important to get right. The original unit was used as a musical instrument unto itself and this is what we captured with the Belle Epoch.

Several dimensions collide in the Kafka Reverb, whose parallel world concept was inspired by the often inexplicable work of the writer Franz Kafka. Both the volume of the dry (DIREKT) and the wet REVERB signal are individually adjustable in parallel.
An innocuous accompanying reverb is just as realizable as the true nature of this pedal: deep reverberation without limits.

Das Wren and Cuff White Elk ist eine weitere Muff-Variante, die speziell auf Nachfrage eines großen japanischen Vertriebs entwickelt wurde. Das White Elk ist eine Nachbildung der Elk 'Super Fuzz Sustainar' Effektpedale aus den 1970er Jahren - einer billigen japanischen Variante des bekannten 'Triangle' Muffs, die eigentlich überhaupt nicht nach den originalen 'Triangle Knob' Pedalen klang. Die Elks wurden mit unzuverlässigen Bauteilen, günstigen Platinen, dünnen Metallgehäusen und ohne True Bypass gebaut und gingen entsprechend schnell kaputt. Durch die Carbon-Comp-Widerstände und die billigen Kondensatoren bekamen die Pedale aber ein 'dreckiges', Noise-ähnliches Mojo, dass sich im Laufe der Jahre noch weiter verstärkte, da einige Bauteile mit den Jahren um bis zu 50% von den eigentlichen Werten abwichen. Still und heimlich entwickelte sich eine wachsende Fanbase für den einzigartigen Sound dieser Pedale, angeführt von Wata und Takeshi aus der japanischen Noise-Band Boris, die das 'kratzige' Fuzz, die satte Verzerrung, das unregelmäßige Low-End und das 'dreckige' Feedback bei Gitarren-, Bass- und sogar Synthie-Spuren einsetzen. Das Wren and Cuff White Elk fängt diesen wunderbar ungleichmäßigen Sound perfekt ein, bietet mehr Mitten als die meisten Muff Pedale und überzeugt mit einem einzigartigen 'Knurren' und einem besonderen Charakter.

The Wren and Cuff White Elk is another Muff variant, that was specially developed on the request of a large Japanese distributor. The White Elk is a recreation of the famous Elk 'Super Fuzz Sustainar' pedals from the 1970s, a cheap Japanese variant of the very well-known 'Triangle' Muff, that sounded almost nothing like any of the original 'Triangle' knob pedals. The Elks were made with very unreliable components, cheap circuit boards, thin metal enclosures, were not true bypass, and would break if you looked at them wrong. However, the carbon-comp resistors and ultra-cheap caps added a noisy mojo that would increase as the pedals aged. Some components would drift as much as 50% of their stated values! Quietly, there were some musicians who discovered the unique tone of the Elks, most famously, Wata and Takeshi from the Japanese Noise band Boris. It is said that they favored these pedals for their fuzzed-out tones and raunchy feedback on some guitar, bass and synth tracks. The Wren and Cuff White Elk provides a wonderfully uneven rumbling low-end, an odd feeling Tone knob with more mids than most Muffs, and a unique snarl unlike any other Muffer made.

Der 10 Fuzz hat nur einen Regler: Pegel. Wer die Fuzz-Intensität regeln möchte, muss dies mit dem Volume-Poti an seiner Gitarre machen.
Das Gerät läuft mit Silizium-Transistoren und klingt sehr böse. Manchmal fügt das Pedal einige „Octave-Down-Schweinereien“ hinzu.
Es sind sowohl schöne Higain-Leadsounds, als auch dreckige Riff-Einstellungen möglich. Den Verzerrungsgrad kann man mit dem Gitarrenvolume regeln.

„Der schwarze, in Russland gebaute Big Muff(TM) war ein sehr beliebtes Pedal der 90er-Jahre Indie- und Grunge-Gitarristen. Auch heute noch sind die panzerartig gebauten Geräte sehr gefragt. – Auch bei Bassisten, denn für stark verzerrten Basssound sind diese Teile ideal. Als ich mit Blackmail im Studio arbeitete, lernte ich endgültig diesen Effekt zu lieben. Daher gehören der schwarze Big Muff (TM) und Blackmail für mich unzertrennlich zusammen.“
