The DS-1 Distortion was introduced in 1978 as part of the second wave of compact pedals. With its edgy attack and smooth sustain, it won over guitarists around the world and shaped the sound of numerous rock legends. This enthusiasm continues to this day and makes the DS-1 the best-selling BOSS pedal of all time.
To mark 40 years of BOSS pedal innovations, we have now released a special edition of the DS-1, the black housing of which is decorated with gold letters and which attracts attention with gold-plated controls and a wing screw in vintage silver for closing the battery compartment in the pedal board and in the display case. The pedal is packaged in an elegant box with the 40-year BOSS anniversary logo and is only available in 2017.

The Getaway Driver is an amp-in-a-box type pedal with just three dials – Volume, Bite (tone) and Gain. While the pedal adds its vintage vibe on all amplifiers, it really excels when used with the amplifier’s clean channel, even ones with a bright cap. It also makes a great clean boost, with lower Gain and higher Volume settings pushing amps over the edge into classic overdrive.

The gain structure is produced using single-ended JFET circuitry running in Class A, just like a valve amp. The input buffer, output buffer and Cab Sim are handled using op-amps, using a charge pump to give 18v of headroom.

The Kongpressor is an analogue Class A compression pedal which adds an organic three dimensional quality to any rig. The pedal takes its inspiration from some of the world’s most iconic vintage optical studio units, employing a re-issue of the famous vactrol VTL5C3 optocoupler that was responsible for the sound heard on countless hit records.

At lower compression levels the Kongpressor’s effect is transparent but somehow fattening. It adds mojo and a glossy sheen to your core tone that you’ll truly miss when it’s bypassed. Even at extreme settings, the tone always remains musical with great feel under the fingers.

When the term British sound gets mentioned, it usually brings to mind the fat warm crunch of a Plexi, but the FX Teacher Blues Believer has a different sonic color to it. It is a bright overdrive, the original transparent overdrive (without the clean sound being added to the crunch), truly respectful of your amp and guitar’s personality, mindful of the dynamics in your playing, while supplying all the fat and harmonically loaded sustain typical of tube amps.
The FX Teacher Blues Believer can be used as your basic crunch on a super clean amp, as a boost to push it to the other side, as an extra source of fat on an amp that’s already cooking, or even as a way of making a crappy rental amp feel decent and more flattering.

Das Catalinbread Belle Epoch Delay-Effektpedal orientiert sich am Sound des legendären Maestro Echoplex EP-3, das in den 1970er Jahren zum Arsenal diverser Helden des Rock gehörte, darunter solche Namen wie Brian May, Jimmy Page, Eddie Van Halen, David Gilmour oder Eric Johnson. Sie setzten das Delay oft und gerne ein, neben dem warm klingenden Bandecho-Sound auch wegen seines Preamps, mit dem man einen Amp noch etwas heißer anfahren und zu etwas mehr Zerre überreden konnte.

 The Catalinbread Belle Epoch Tape Echo, has tape echo sounds so authentic you’d swear there was tape inside the pedal! Inspired by the Maestro Echoplex, EP-3 model, perhaps the most famous tape delay ever, the Belle Epoch features everything we love about the EP-3 in a small, maintenance free pedal format. We felt that a “tape echo” pedal was much more than just a standard digital delay with some “filtering” on the repeats. There are a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle traits of the Echoplex that needed to be implemented in order to be authentic. The preamp, the self-oscillation character, the ability to control the “record level” of the signal hitting “tape”, the wow and flutter, the way the repeats decay, the way the circuit interfaces with the amp and other pedals – all these things were important to get right. The original unit was used as a musical instrument unto itself and this is what we captured with the Belle Epoch.
