The AirTrash is a pedal for guitar or bass that sounds like absolute garbage. I was breadboarding an idea and happened upon some absolutely sickening sounds, like really bad, but couldn’t stop playing it.  I spent a lot of time trying to refine and improve it, make it less noisy, more controllable etc.. but these changes always ended up sucking the fun right out of it so decided let it be the simple disgusting beast that it is.

It “works well” with guitar or bass and usually sounds best with the guitar or bass plugged straight into it (first in the pedal chain), didn’t do much for me at all on synths or drum machines.  It’s very sensitive to pick attack and input volume.

The blue knob controls the output level.  I could not come up with words to properly describe what the red and yellow knobs do so I created those little icons in an attempt to illustrate what words could not describe.

The Bad Passenger Fuzz is back and badder than ever. MKII features a completely redesigned circuit combining cascaded transistor and op-amp gain stages to create a badass fuzz pedal brimming with brutal fuzz and distortion tones.  The added character switch toggles between a bright aggressive grind or a darker compressed filth.

The output control has also been redesigned so that you can access the full amount of gain regardless of the setting of the output volume.

Bad Passenger Fuzz MKII

A drone synthesizer for your pedalboard, the Drone Tone is a pitch and rate controllable square wave oscillator in a guitar pedal format.   

It can be used stand-alone or with an instrument input, however, the instrument input is unaffected and is simply buffered and passed-through to the output jack.  The mix control sets the volume of the square wave oscillator at the output jack.

MKIII adds onboard tap tempo, tempo sync input (0-5V), internal pitch range control, and top mounted jacks.

Drone Tone MKIII

The new Double Gate Drone Synth is an ode to the original version which was one of the first Mattoverse Electronics products, originally built in a variety of thrift store tins.  Over the years, I iterated on the idea a couple of times, adding new features, which were useful and worth exploring but inevitably drove the price up.  Last year I built one of the previous iterations for a local touring musician who wanted it for their noise sets and it reminded me that the most fun thing about the Double Gate Drone was back when it was an insane noise making machine that was not super refined but was capable of some truly unusual electronic beeps, boops, screeches, and screams.  This version is meant to be simple, affordable, and most importantly, fun to to use.

It is an output only drone synthesizer with two pitch and rate controllable oscillators.  There is a master volume control and a sync toggle switch which allows you to sync the gate of oscillator 2 to the rate of oscillator 1 for fun polyrhythms.  It also brings back the drain feature of the push button power switch of the original version which results in fun ascending pitches from each oscillator as the power drains (this was not possible with later versions whose functionality required IC's which needed constant power).

Double Gate Drone Synthesizer

The Analog Kick Drum MKII is the same basic concept as MKI, in that you press the momentary footswitch to generate a kick drum sound, but the entire kick drum circuit has been redesigned for a fatter, broader, and more interesting sound palette.  MKII also has trigger input that can be used to trigger the kick drum, like CV gate for example (0-5V).  Controls for pitch, decay, distortion, and volume.
