Das Catalinbread Callisto ist ein Chorus/Vibrato-Pedal, das in seinem Kern einen analogen MN3007 Bucket Brigade-Delay-Chip im Old-School-Stil verwendet. Die klanglichen Merkmale des Callisto sind denen klassischer Chorus-Geräte wie dem Boss CE-1 und CE-2, dem Arion SCH-1 und dem EHX Small Clone nachempfunden und die Schnittstelle ist einfach und intuitiv. Es bietet eine Vielzahl von Klängen, die von subtilem Schimmern über dickes, zähes Chorus bis hin zu ausgefallenen Warping-/Träller-Klängen reichen. 

Die geringe Größe und der vielseitige Funktionsumfang des Callisto machen es zu einer großartigen Ergänzung für jedes Pedalboard. Der Callisto integriert mehrere hochwertige Komponenten, um die bestmögliche Klangreaktion zu erzielen. Zusätzlich zur Verwendung des MN3007 Bucket Brigade-Chips, genau wie bei frühen Chorus-Pedalen, verwenden wir im Audiopfad auch einen Burr Brown OPA2134-Chip in Audiophilenqualität, um dem Callisto ein organisches und dynamisches Spielgefühl zu verleihen.

The Catalinbread Callisto is a Chorus/Vibrato pedal which employs an old school style analog MN3007
Bucket Brigade delay chip at it’s core. Taking it’s sonic cues from classic chorusing units such as the Boss
CE-1 and CE-2, the Arion SCH-1, and the EHX Small Clone, the Callisto's interface is simple and
intuitie . It proiides a multtude of sounds ranging from subtle shimmer, to thick chewy chorusing and
off-kilter warping/warble sounds.

The Callisto’s small size and iersatle feature set make it a great additon to any pedalboard. The Callisto
integrates iarious high quality components to achieie the best tonal response possible. In additon to
using the MN3007 bucket brigade chip, just like early chorus pedals, we also employ an audiophile
grade Burr Brown OPA2134 chip in the audio path to giie the Callisto an organic and dynamic playing
feel.

From buffer, to boost, to tone enhancer, the Prestige will prove to be a vital and necessary piece of gear for anyone's rig. With the boost knob set to zero, you have in your hands an amazing buffer/enhancer for long cable runs as well as a tool that will simply add some life back into your rig. When the Boost knob is in the first 25% you will get different flavors of the buffer/enhancer as well as slight volume increases. When the Boost knob is set between 25% and 50% you have a powerful, dynamic solo boost that adds definition, clarity and a little magic to your solos and lead passages. When set at 50% or more, the Prestige gives you the ability to break up your tube amp in a smooth and natural way resulting in real tube overdrive from the preamp section of your tube amp. The last 25% of the volume range can completely destroy your amp in the best way possible, resulting in rich soaring sustain, breakup, and on some amps even a smooth warm fuzzy growl.

Das Catalinbread Topanga emuliert das legendäre Fender 6G15 Federhallgerät, welches quasi die Mutter des Surfsounds und der Soundtracks aller Spaghetti-Western ist. Teil der Magie dieses Hallgerätes war der Umstand, dass es in der Regel vorgeschaltet wurde was schnell dazu führte, dass das Hallsignal verzerrte und noch intensiver klang. Dieser Effekt ist heutzutage nicht so leicht zu reproduzieren, aber Catlinbread hat es mit einem zusätzlichen Preamp tatsächlich geschafft!

The outboard Fender 6G15 spring reverb unit is the sound of Surf guitar, Spaghetti Western and many other great guitar sounds from the sixties. Part of its magic, and how it differs from the internal spring reverb found in most Fender-style amps, is that it is run *in front* of the amp, causing the reverb signal to distort and sound more intense. Because there were additional knobs on the outboard units, you also have more control over the reverb qualities. The Dwell knob controlled how hard the springs were getting hit by the guitar signal. The Tone knob allowed the treble to be dialed back to just the right degree of brightness. It was also essentially a tube preamp, so it would color the sound going into the amp. All this added up to a very distinctive reverb sound with a lot of attitude and complex non-linearities that are hard to replicate. But we here at Catalinbread did just that! Besides giving you the classic three knob control compliment of the original, we’ve also added a great discrete preamp that you can control via the Volume knob for a healthy amount of great clean boost when you want it

The JHS Pedals Paul Gilbert PG-14 signature distortion is a new and unique distortion pedal specifically designed to Paul's specifications. At the heart of the circuit is a FET based distortion engine that emulates the touch, feel, and the response of a pushed tube amplifier. This circuitry allows the player to have the dynamics and tone of loud stadium level amplifier at low/moderate volume levels. A second unique and essential feature of the design is that an active mid-frequency preamp is located at the front of the FET distortion circuitry. The Demeter Amplification Tremulator in the small enclosure with red knobs is a rare, early version of the iconic optical tremolo pedal designed to emulate the classic Fender amp tremolo sound. Housed in a compact “bottom screw” box with distinctive red knobs and “The Tremulator” script on the face, it features simple controls for Depth and Speed, a footswitch, and an LED indicator. The pedal includes an internal trim pot for adjusting the bias of the optical circuit (accessible by removing the bottom plate), offers a slight clean boost, and runs on 9V power via a 1/8" mini plug rather than a standard barrel connector. Known for its warm, pulsing tremolo and legendary reliability, this version is prized by collectors and musicians for its vintage build and classic tone. Dieser Effekt, der in den Achtzigern in einigen berühmten Gitarrenaufnahmen auftauchte, war damals für uns “normale” Musiker kaum erschwinglich. Aber diese Zeiten haben sich glücklicherweise geändert. Pitch-Effekte sind inzwischen im Effektangebot vieler Hersteller zu recht günstigen Kursen zu finden.

The EHX Pitch Fork transposes an instrument’s pitch over a +/- three octave range and features three modes which allow the pitch to be transposed up, down or both, simultaneously. The pitch shift amount can be set to a fixed interval or continuously varied by an expression pedal or control voltage.

Es ist unklar, wie genau das Flanging entstanden ist. Möglicherweise war es das Ergebnis des Versuchs, die Grenzen der Mehrspuraufnahme auszuloten – vermutlich durch das parallele Abspielen zweier Tonbandmaschinen, die nicht ganz synchron liefen … Vielleicht hat auch einfach jemand im Studio versehentlich die Flanschseite einer Aufwickelspule berührt? Vielleicht war es Les Paul, vielleicht John Lennon und George Martin? Man weiß es nicht genau.

Klar ist jedoch: Die mechanische Studiomethode zur Erzeugung dieses Effekts wurde innerhalb eines Jahrzehnts so verbreitet, dass Unternehmen begannen, den Effekt elektronisch zu simulieren. Diese elektronischen Ansätze waren anfangs innovativ und aufregend, doch in den 80ern wirkten sie abgenutzt und langweilig.

Bei Catalinbread führen wir das darauf zurück, dass diese Geräte den Flanging-Effekt mithilfe eines LFOs erzeugten, der sich in einem vorhersehbaren Tempo auf- und abbewegte – und damit dem Effekt seine Lebendigkeit und Frische nahm. Als wir beschlossen, einen eigenen Flanger zu entwickeln, war uns klar, dass wir ihn so angehen würden, wie es ursprünglich gemacht wurde …


It’s uncertain what exactly the origin of flanging was. It could have been the result of trying to push the boundaries of multitrack recording, probably due to running a couple tape machines in parallel but not quite in sync… Maybe a guy messing around in the studio brushed up against a take-up reel flange accidentally?  Maybe that guy was Les Paul, maybe it was John Lennon and George Martin? It is unclear. But, what is clear is that the mechanical studio method of achieving the effect became, within a decade, commonplace enough for companies to simulate the effect electronically. The electronic approaches were pretty cool and groundbreaking, but by the 80s became tired and worn out.
