Jason Ricci, der derzeit wohl beste Mundharmonikaspieler, bat mich, ein Kompressor-Pedal zu bauen. Er spezifizierte, dass es verzerrungsfrei sein und einen VOLUME-Regler enthalten sollte; außerdem wollte er, dass es gut aussieht, eine coole Farbe und eine coole Grafik hat. Das Ergebnis ist der Flat Cat, ein verzerrungsfreier optischer Kompressor. Was macht ein Kompressor? Ein Kompressor „komprimiert“ das von Ihrem Mikrofon erzeugte Signal und gleicht den Dynamikbereich aus. Der Vorteil eines Kompressors besteht darin, dass jede gespielte Note nahezu die gleiche Amplitude und damit eine nahezu gleiche Lautstärke hat. Dies trägt dazu bei, Töne auszugleichen, die manchmal aufgrund komplexer Obertöne in der Mischung verloren gehen, und es führt zu einem artikulierteren Klang. Der Flat Cat ist ein optischer Kompressor, was ihn verzerrungsfrei macht. Mit dem zusätzlichen VOLUME-Regler kann der Benutzer die durch die Kompression verloren gegangene Lautstärke wiederherstellen. Der Flat Cat eignet sich hervorragend für Rock und Blues Rock. Manchmal ist es schwer zu sagen, dass er eingeschaltet ist, aber du wirst ihn vermissen, wenn er ausgeschaltet ist.

Jason Ricci, arguably the best harmonica player today, asked me to build a compressor pedal. He specified that it had to be distortion-free and include a VOLUME control; plus he wanted it to look good, a cool color, and cool graphics. The result is the Flat Cat, a distortion-free optical compressor. What does a compressor do? A compressor "compresses" the signal your microphone produces and equalizes the dynamic range. The benefit of a compressor lies in that every note played will be at nearly the same amplitude, and therefore nearly equal in volume. This will help equalize tones that are sometimes lost in the mix because of complex overtones, and it will result in a more articulate sound. The Flat Cat is an optical compressor, which makes it distortion-free. The addition of the VOLUME control allows the user to make up volume lost through compression. The Flat Cat is great for rock and blues rock. Sometimes it is hard to tell it is on, but you will miss it when it is off.

Flat Cat

Der Harp Attack wurde entwickelt, um eine echte Leistungsröhrenverzerrung in einem Pedal zu bieten. Das Pedal verfügt über einen DRIVE-Regler, mit dem die gewünschte Sättigung der Endstufenröhre eingestellt werden kann, einen aktiven Tonregler mit einem Bereich von 20 dB, der auf die Harp-Frequenzen abgestimmt ist, und einen VOLUME-Regler zur Einstellung des Ausgangspegels. 

Der Harp Attack erfüllt mehrere Bedürfnisse von Harfenspielern. So bietet er zum Beispiel einen echten Power Tube Overdrive Distortion in einem Pedal, man kann ihn direkt an eine PA anschließen und einen übersteuerten 6V6-Sound erhalten oder einen Verstärker, der sonst zu sauber ist, aufmotzen. Der Harp Attack verleiht einem Solid-State-Verstärker einen exzellenten Röhrensound und macht ihn zu einem großartigen, leicht mitzunehmenden Harp-Backup-Amp. Das Pedal erzeugt keine massive Verzerrung, sondern einen weichen, übersteuerten Ton.

The Harp Attack is designed to provide true power tube distortion in a pedal. This pedal is not your typical tube preamp that uses a triode; this pedal uses a subminiature beam power tube, which is the same type tube as a 6V6 or a 6L6 to provide the tone of an overdriven tube amp. It produces a fat punchy tone that can be set with the exact amount of overdrive desired. You can certainly tell there is a tube inside of this pedal. The pedal is designed with a high impedance input buffer providing 1M ohms of resistance to get the best tone from your crystal, CM, or other high impedance microphones. The pedal features a DRIVE control to set the amount of power tube saturation desired, an active tone control with a 20dB range that is tuned for harp frequencies, and an output VOLUME control to set the output level. 

The Harp Attack fills several needs of harp players. For instance, it provides true power tube overdrive distortion in a pedal, it allows you to plug straight into a PA and get an over-driven 6V6 sound or dirty-up an amp that is otherwise too clean. The Harp Attack gives an excellent tube sound to a solid state amp, and it makes a great, easy to bring-along, back-up harp amp. The pedal does not produce massive distortion, but a smooth over-driven tone.

Harp Attack

Das Harp Break-Pedal bietet eine Clipping-Verzerrung mit einem breiten Spektrum von Clean bis Hard Grit. Wenn die LEDs zu leiten beginnen, erzeugen sie eine weiche Clipping-Verzerrung, die der Verzerrung einer Vakuumröhre sehr ähnlich ist. Das weiche Clipping ist durch das schwache Leuchten der LED auf der Vorderseite des Pedals sichtbar, und je höher der DRIVE-Wert ist, desto härter wird das Clipping und desto heller leuchtet die LED: je heller die LED, desto härter das Clipping. Der Ton kommt einer Röhrenverzerrung sehr nahe, allerdings ohne die von Röhren erzeugten Obertöne. Der Ton ist viel besser als die typische Solid-State-Verzerrung, die durch Transistoren erzeugt wird, aber das ist noch nicht alles. Das Harp Break verfügt über eine 20dB BASS BOOST-Funktion, die deinem Sound einen fetten Bass hinzufügt. Dieses Pedal ist ein großartiges Werkzeug, um einen ansonsten sauberen Verstärker zu verunreinigen und eine Verzerrung zu erzeugen, wenn man in eine PA geht. Wenn das Pedal nicht zur Erzeugung von Verzerrung verwendet wird, kann es dazu verwendet werden, den Ton fetter zu machen.

The Harp Break pedal provides clipping distortion with a full range of clean to hard grit. As LEDs begin to conduct, they produce a soft clipping distortion that is very similar to vacuum tube distortion. The soft clip is visibly evident by the dim lighting of the LED on the face of the pedal, and as the DRIVE is increased the LED clips harder and begins to glow brighter: the brighter the LED, the harder the clip. The tone is very close to vacuum tube distortion but without the overtones produced by tubes. The tone is much better than typical solid state distortion created by transistors, but that is not all. The Harp Break features a 20dB BASS BOOST feature to add a fat bottom end to your tone. This pedal is a great tool to dirty up an otherwise clean amp and create distortion when going into a PA. When the pedal is not used to produce distortion, it can be used to fatten up your tone by providing.

Harp Break

The Clean Cat is the second pedal in a line of signature pedals built for Jason Ricci, who of course, requires no introduction. Jason urged Lone Wolf to design a clean boost pedal with the range needed to suit the modern harp player, one that does not color or distort and can add the drive desired for solo's that will enhance a performance. The Clean Cat does just this and shines while doing it.
