Die Walrus Audio Julia ist ein komplett analoges Chorus/Vibrato-Pedal, das mit einigen Besonderheiten aufwarten kann. Obwohl es sich bei den beiden um alteingesessene Standard-Effektsounds handelt, versteht es der amerikanische Boutique-Hersteller, mit einigen Extras jenseits der Norm Interesse zu wecken.
So auch bei der Julia, bei der beispielsweise fließend mit einem Blend-Regler zwischen Chorus und Vibrato gewechselt werden kann. Dazu lässt ein Schalter die Wahl, den LFO zu Sinus- oder Dreieck-Wellenformen zu überreden. Was diese Funktionen klanglich bewirken, schauen wir uns im Folgenden an.

Wenn Burkhard Lehle etwas baut, dann richtig und ohne Kompromisse. Mit seinem Mono Volume Pedal hat er ein High End Pedal ohne die sonst bei Volumenpedalen auftretenden Nachteile konstruiert. Es wird kein mechanisches Poti verwendet - das Mono Volume arbeitet mit einem Magnet Sensor der ein hochwertiges VCA steuert. Dadurch ist der gesammte Regelbereich gleichmäßig und ohne Klangverlust, Verschleiß und Potikratzen gehören der Vergangenheit an. Desweiteren besteht die Möglichkeit, das Ausgangssignal um bis zu 10 dB zu boosten. Das Pedal läuft sehr gleichmäßig und ruhig, da die Pedalwippe in Low Friction Polymer Gleitlagern läuft. Zusätzlich steht ein gebufferter Direkt Out zur Verfügung der als Tuner Out oder zur Weiterleitung an weiteres Equipment genutzt werden kann. Das Pedal läßt sich durch den niederohmigen Ausgang auch in einem seriellen FX Loops eines Amps betreiben.

When Burkhard Lehle builds something, he does it properly and without compromise. With his Mono Volume Pedal, he has constructed a high-end pedal without the disadvantages that usually occur with volume pedals. No mechanical potentiometer is used - the Mono Volume works with a magnetic sensor that controls a high-quality VCA. This means that the entire control range is even and without loss of sound, wear and potentiometer scratching are a thing of the past. There is also the option of boosting the output signal by up to 10 dB. The pedal runs very evenly and quietly because the pedal rocker runs on low friction polymer plain bearings. There is also a buffered direct out that can be used as a tuner out or for forwarding to other equipment. The pedal can also be operated in a serial FX loop of an amp thanks to the low-impedance output.

My rhthym guitar sound is based on the use of a 1995 Matchless Tube Pre-amp (original Hot Box before the labeling) running dual mono into a Marshall Valvestate VS232 and to a Peavey Decade, which isn't specifically depicted on the board schematics. 

To avoid any potential impedance issues with the Matchless Tube Preamp, I use a Vertex Interface buffer to assist my pedal chain as follows: running from the guitar to the Send input, from the Send out I go to the Matchless and then back into the Guitar Input of the Vertex. Then from the Guitar output (using a Vertex Y-cable), we go to both a Sonic Research Tuner ST-300 (in true bypass, on all all the time, no output use) and the split goes to a Stone Deaf PDF-1. 

I use a Lehle mono volume pedal after my gain stages to roll up or down the overall volume while maintaining the selected gain outputs (capabilities from the Matchless Preamp, a Stone Deaf PDF-1 and an MXR Fat Sugar).  From the PDF-1 we follow a basic right of passage, going from its non-expressive output to the Fat Sugar input, then out to a Subdecay custom Envelope Filter, then to the input of a GE-7 EQ (with XTS Mod).  

From the GE-7, we go to the Lehle mono volume, then on to a JHS Kill Switch input (because I love having a panic button).  From the Kill Switch we go out to a Thorpy’s CamoFlange with dual outs.  Here, using a Lehle Little Dual amp switcher to split my mono signals to one or both amps through the Vertex, we go from one flanger output to the AB input of the Little Dual and the other output of the flanger to the input of a Foxgear EchoSex Baby. The EchoSex runs out to the A input of the Little Dual. The Little Dual then feeds the two separate amplifier input channels on the Vertex interface from its respective A & B outputs, then using both separate outputs from the Vertex Interface Buffer to both my Marshall and Peavey for a mixed blend ultimately controlled by the Little Dual. 

I use a TrueTone 1Spot CS-12 to power everything except the Matchless, which has it's own built-in power cable/requirement.

This pedal’s versatility comes from its unique Drive control—which replicates an amp’s transition from clean to dirty by blending your clean signal at the start of the sweep—and a little something called a voltage doubler, which increases overall headroom and opens up the sound of the pedal. Together, these elements allow you to serve up everything from a sauced-up boost to full-on blow-tube distortion.

The Fat Sugar Drive is set for true bypass by default, but for the tonal purists who want buffered bypass instead, just remove the bottom plate and flick the internal Buffer switch, close it up, and get to playing. This special edition comes with a custom pink sparkle finish.

The Gurgle and Moan is an envelope filter effect. This is a prototype pedal, and it does have some quirks and rough edges. On a few of them that we have built they oscillate with the resonance knob cranked. Also there is a bit of a "gurgle" in the background due to some crosstalk issues with the control voltage circuitry. I thought it sounded cool, although it may not be what everyone wants in a filter. 

This is a prototype pedal, and has no artwork, or labeling on the face of the pedal. There is a sticker on the back with a brief explanation of what the knobs do.

Lower right knob: Shape - Varies the shape of the filter from band pass or low pass.
Lower left knob: Resonance - Accents the cut off frequency of the filter. (At max setting it may oscillate)
Upper right knob: Depth- Varies how far your playing dynamics will modulate the filter cutoff frequency.
Upper left knob: Frequency - Varies the cut off frequency of the filter

Warranty: If it ever breaks send it back to us and we will fix it, unfortunately we no longer cover polar bear attacks, alien abduction, willfully destroyed pedals, or any claims involving time travel or toaster repair.

Das UAFX Ruby ’63 ist das dritte Amp-Modeling-Pedal aus dem Hause Universal Audio und widmet sich der präzisen Nachbildung eines Vox AC30 aus der JMI-Ära der 1960er-Jahre. Drei Kanäle stehen zur Verfügung und natürlich auch eine Nachbildung des typischen Vibrato/Tremolo-Effekts. Dazu gibt es diverse Boost-Funktionen und auf der Lautsprecherseite stehen sechs verschiedene Cabs zur Auswahl.

I know that Universal Audio did a good job of capturing the spirit of an AC30 in the UAFX Ruby ’63 amp emulation, because excitement is the first thing I felt. The Ruby ’63 is lively, explosive, reactive, clear, and, yeah, even pretty chimey. And I was very impressed at how it imparted those qualities to decidedly non-Vox-y black-panel Fender amps, and vintage Fender cabinet emulations in UA’s OX Amp emulator. You know how a lot of pedals claiming to be an amp-in-a-box tend to be vaguely similar in terms of EQ and gain structure, but miss the details? The Ruby ’63 is not that. It’s an exhaustively executed emulation that takes you several miles further down the road to true amp-ness. And it sounds and feels awfully close to the real thing.

Robert Keeley und seine Crew sind Zappa Fans. Manische Fans. Das Keeley Bubble Tron erkundet einige der berühmtesten, aber schwer zu findenden Sounds der Vergangenheit. Keeley Engineering hat hier ein weiteres Bündel an Neo-Vintage Effekten geschaffen, die es nie zuvor gab. Diesmal lassen sie Flanger und Phaser dynamisch mit Pick Attack und Anschlagstärke arbeiten, fügen dann noch einen Random Stepped Filter mit neuartigem „M-Style Synth“ Bandpass Shaping hinzu und schon hat man das Traum-Tool jedes Lead-Gitarristen.
Shut up and play that pedal! 

Mit seinen drei Operationsmodi zieht das Bubble Tron unter anderem Inspiration vom MicMix Flanger. Dieser unglaubliche Effekt wurde von Frank Zappa für viele seiner Solo Sounds in den späten 70ern bis Mitte der 80er verwendet. Ein dynamischer Flanger – er startet und stoppt basierend auf deinem Pick Attack.
Die Flanger Section des Bubble Tron nutzt ebenso dein Spiel um den Flanger anzuwerfen und zu stoppen. Die meisten Flanger kreisen basierend auf einem LFO und im Hintergrund ist ein ständiges Swooshen zu hören. Nicht so mit dem Bubble Tron! Außerdem bieten die meisten Flanger entweder nur positives oder negatives Feedback – der Dyna Flange Modus des Bubble Tron stellt dir beide Möglichkeiten zur Auswahl.

Die DynaMo Phase Section des Bubble Tron beherbergt eigentlich zwei Phaser. Einer basierend auf einem LFO der die Geschwindigkeit kontrolliert, während Depth über die Anschlagsdynamik gesteuert wird. Der andere ist ein komplett dynamischer Phaser, der gesteuert durch dein Pick Attack mit deinem Spiel anfängt und aufhört zu phasen.
Du willst nur den dynamischen Phaser? Auch kein Problem, dreh einfach den Rate Regler auf 0.

Der einzige, nicht dynamische Part des Bubble Tron, ist seine Filter Section. Sie stellt die willkürliche Natur dieses Pedals dar und verfügt über einen zufälligen Vintage Synth-Style Bandpass Filter und gibt dir ein Repertoire an unglaublichen keyboard-artigen Sounds.

Robert Keeley and his crew are fans of Zappa. Rabid fans. The Keeley Bubble Tron explores some of the famous, but very hard to find sounds of the past.  Keeley Engineering has created another batch of Neo-Vintage effects that never were.  This time they made the Flanger and Phaser work dynamic with your pick attack and strength.  Then add the Random Stepped Filter with the new “M-Style Synth” bandpass shaping feature, and you have a lead guitarist’s dream tool.  Shut up and play your effect pedal!  Yeah, you play this thing like an extension of your mind and fingers.

Featuring three modes of operation, the Bubble Tron’s Flanger section draws on inspiration from the MicMix DynaFlanger.
This incredible piece of gear was used by Frank Zappa to create many of the sounds in the late 70’s to mid-80’s in his solos.  A dynamic flanger is one that starts and stops based on your pick attack.  
The Bubble Tron uses your playing to start and stop the flanger.  Most flangers just cycle ‘round and ‘round and there is constant swooshing in the background.  Not with the Bubble Tron, it only cycles as you play.  Also most flangers offer either positive or negative feedback – the Bubble Tron’s DynaMo Flange allows you to try either.  

The DynaMoPhase section of the Bubble Tron is actually two phasers.  One has an LFO that you set the speed of with the Rate Control (while it’s depth is dynamically controlled) and the other is a true Dynamic Phaser.  It starts and stops based on your pick attack.  
Turn off the standard phaser and just run it as DynaPhase by turning the Rate Control off.

The only part of the Bubble Tron that isn’t dynamic is its Filter Section, with which you can control the different ramps or its random nature. It features a random vintage synth-style bandpass filter and gives you some incredible keyboard like sounds.

The Bubble Tron Dynamic Flanger Phaser is made in Edmond, Oklahoma by rabid Zappa fans.
