The Angry Charlie has become a staple of the JHS line over the years. The V3 is a force to be reckoned with in the high gain pedal territory. Wilco Gitarrist Nels Cline wandte sich an JHS Gründer Josh Scott mit der Frage, ob JHS im Jahr 2022 ein Oil Can Delay herstellen würde. Obwohl JHS das nicht offiziell im Programm hatte, entwickelten Josh und sein Team ein Oil Can Delay Pedal in Einzelanfertigung, das sie Nels als Geschenk überreichten. Nels war so begeistert, dass er es für die Aufnahmen und die Tournee für Wilcos Cruel Country und jetzt für das neueste Album Cousin nutzte.

Wilco guitarist Nels Cline reached out to JHS founder Josh Scott asking if JHS made an oil can delay in 2022. Though JHS didn’t have one in the official lineup, Josh and team developed a one-off oil can delay pedal, which they presented to Nels as a gift. Nels liked it so much that he used it through the recording and touring process for Wilco’s Cruel Country and now their latest record Cousin.
Though the JHS Oil Can Delay isn’t a signature artist pedal, we’re still grateful to Nels Cline for inspiring it. JHS are proud to offer you this unique pedal for your own collection.

3 Series Oil Can Delay (white)

MXR knows phasers. The Phase 90's compact size, superior construction, and refined sound put MXR on the map, and it set the standard by which all other phasers are judged. Two years later, MXR released the Phase 45—a mellower version of the effect favored for its ability to easily blend into a band's mix. Now, you can get both iconic circuits in a single pedal while tightening up your pedalboard at the same time. The Phase 95 combines the Phase 45 and Phase 90 circuits in a mini housing with about half the footprint of a standard MXR pedal. The 45/90 switch toggles between the Phase 45 mode's subtle two-stage phasing and the Phase 90 mode's more pronounced four-stage phasing, while the Script switch toggles between two phasing styles. The Phase 95 is set to modern style phasing by default, which relies on feedback to create light harmonic distortion and gives the effect a more accentuated swoosh. Engaging the Script switch removes feedback for a lusher, more subdued sound with higher headroom and greater clarity. The familiar Speed control sets the rate of the effect. The Phase 95 may be small, but it's full of rich phase tones, and it'll take a beating on the road.

Das Tape Delay wurde in den späten 40er Jahren erfunden, als Les Paul zwei Ampex Model 200A Spulentonbandgeräte zusammenschaltete. Wenig später, im Jahr 1953, erfand Ray Butts den Echosonic, das erste echte Tape-Delay-Gerät. Diesem folgten 1961 das Echoplex EP-1 von Mike Battle und 1974 das Space Echo von Roland. Das JHS Pedals 3 Series Tape Delay ist ein vereinfachter und originalgetreuer Rückgriff auf diese klassischen Geräte. Mit dem Mix-Regler können Sie einstellen, wie viel Clean-Signal mit dem Wet-Signal (Delay) gemischt wird (beim Originalgerät hieß das Echo Volume). Tape Speed simuliert die Beschleunigung und Verlangsamung des Bandmotors des RE-201 und bestimmt, wie kurz oder lang der Verzögerungseffekt ist. Mit dem Repeats-Regler können Sie zwischen einer einzelnen Wiederholung und mehreren Wiederholungen wählen, was daran erinnert, dass ein Sound jedes Mal mit einem Verlust an Klangtreue auf eine Bandschleife geschrieben wird. Wenn der Flutter-Regler eingeschaltet ist (obere Position), wird die Abnutzung der mechanischen Teile einer Bandmaschine nachgeahmt, die mit der Zeit auftritt. Dies verursacht leichte Modulationen, Warble und Flattergeräusche im Echoweg des Delays, die sich viele Spieler wünschen.

Tape delay was invented in the late 40s when Les Paul strung two Ampex Model 200A reel-to-reel tape recorders together. A little later, in 1953, Ray Butts invented the Echosonic, the first actual tape delay unit. This would be followed up by the Echoplex EP-1 in 1961 from Mike Battle and the Space Echo from Roland in 1974. The JHS Pedals 3 Series Tape Delay is a simplified and faithful throwback to these classic units. The Mix control lets you control how much clean signal is blended in with the wet (delayed) signal (on the original unit, this was called Echo Volume). Tape Speed acts as a simulation of the RE-201’s tape motor speeding up and slowing down and determines how short or long the delay effect is. The Repeats control goes from a single repeat to many, reminiscent of a sound being written onto the tape loop with loss of fidelity each time. Finally, when the Flutter toggle is turned on (up position), it replicates the wear & tear to the mechanical parts of a tape machine that happens over time. This causes mild modulation, warble, and flutter sounds in the echo path of the delay that so many players desire.

3 Series Tape Delay

The rotary effect was one of the earliest modulation effects to hit the music scene. Originally designed for Hammond organs, the Leslie was a rotating speaker that created the recognizable Doppler effect (think church organ). You’ve heard rotary effects on everything from It’s Only Love by the Beatles to Cold Shot by Stevie Ray Vaughn and from City Love by John Mayer to Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. It’s everywhere! The JHS Pedals 3 Series Rotary Chorus brings you this classic, spinning chorus tone in an affordable, easy-to-use pedal format! 
Intensity determines the modulation depth. Speed lets you control how fast the simulated speaker “spins.” When you turn the Room toggle on (up position), it adds a roomy, reverb ambiance to the sound, much like the ambient “room microphone” sound that happens when recording a real Leslie.

3 Series Rotary Chorus

Der Mary-K ist JHS-Interpretation des klassischen Kay Fuzz Tone aus den späten 1960er Jahren, modernisiert mit zusätzlichen Reglern und Flexibilität für heutige Spieler. It delivers gritty, vintage-inspired fuzz tones with adjustable frequency and output, allowing musicians to dial in expressive textures ranging from classic spitty fuzz to more saturated sustain. Unlike the original knobless design, the Mary-K includes robust controls and an expression pedal input to sweep the frequency parameter in real time, offering dynamic tonal shaping while retaining the character of the iconic fuzz that inspired it.

4 Wheeler Fuzz
Bisher konnte Bass Fuzz nur süße Klänge erzeugen. Es gab nur sehr wenige Fuzz-Pedale, die in einer Umgebung wie meinem Zuhause, in der ich keine lauten Töne erzeugen konnte, eine straffe, treibende Basslinie spielen konnten. Darüber hinaus können Sie mit dem Hi/Lo-Kippschalter einen tieferen Klang mit noch stärkerem Fokus auf die Tiefen als mit der normalen V1-Einstellung erzeugen.

4 Wheeler Fuzz
Until now, Bass Fuzz could only create sweet sounds. There were very few fuzz pedals that could play a tight, driven bass line in an environment like my home where I couldn't make loud sounds. JHS Pedals' 4 Wheeler V2 is a pedal that can handle a variety of bass fuzz sounds, from 60's jam band sounds to modern electric fuzz sounds. A specially tuned Gate control, along with Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls, puts the bass fuzz sound you want right at your fingertips. There's plenty of volume/headroom for any size stage, so you can drive your amp hard. The Tone and Fuzz controls are extremely flexible, allowing you to effectively use the full range of the knobs, and when combined with the Gate control, are perfect for playing synth-like sounds and riffs. You can create unique sounds. Additionally, the Hi/Lo toggle switch allows you to create a deeper sound, with a more low-end focus than his normal V1 setting.
