It’s a delay and a chorus, nor really is it either, with a permanent noise floor, dirt, humanity, it modulates itself based on the strength of the affected signal, it becomes unpredictable.

Das Pedal bietet ein extrem breites Spektrum an unterschiedlichen, riesigen, ausladenden und magischen Ambient-Reverbs und deckt von wilden, verschlungenen Hall-Effekten über atmosphärische, kurze, digitale Delays bis zu Staccato-artigen, rhythmischen Wiederholungen mit bizarren Sounds alle denkbaren Effekte ab. Die Regelmöglichkeiten für Length (Länge des Nachhalls), Dampen (Tone), Reflect (Depth, Regeneration) und Mix (Wet/Dry-Mix) sind bekannte Parameter bei Reverb-Pedalen und arbeiten sehr intuitiv. Der Diffuse-Regler kontrolliert die Streuung des Nachhalls und ermöglicht je nach Setting aggressivere Sounds, bei denen das Einsetzen der einzelnen Wiederholungen deutlicher hörbar oder weicher und verwaschener wird. Der Drag-Regler trennt die digitalen Delay-Gruppen voneinander. So rücken den Repeats je nach Setting näher aneinander (Hall-ähnlicher Effekt) oder werden auseinander gezogen, sodass statt eines Halls verstreute Ping-Pong-Effekte zu hören sind.

The EarthQuaker Devices Afterneath V3 sounds a lot like it looks: a sound wizard bursting forth from ethereal cave and ready for the ambient reverb battle. The pedal offers an extremely wide range of different, vast, expansive, and magical ambient reverbs and covers all possible effects from wild and cavernous reverb effects to atmospheric reverberations of short digital delays to scattered, rhythmic delays with bizarre characteristics. The controls for Length (decay length of the reverb), Dampen (tone), Reflect (depth, regeneration) and Mix (wet/dry mix) are well-known parameters for reverb pedals and work very intuitively. The Diffuse knob adjusts the spread of the reverb, turned counterclockwise, the reverb is sharper with more attack, resulting in a stuttering sputter of individual early reflections. Clockwise casts a washy, more ambient-sounding effect. Drag separates the individual digital delay lines, clockwise positions will gather the delay lines close together for a more reverb-like effect. Turn the Drag counterclockwise, and the delay lines will begin to pull apart for a scattered ping-pong delay effect.

A uniquely designed steel enclosure made with quality components throughout. My goal was to spare no expense. I realize that sometimes in the world of guitar gear, there isn’t always one answer in choosing the best components and designs, so I just picked my favorites. This includes Switchcraft 11 open frame jacks, and a super quiet soft touch switching system via an internal relay.

I have been working on this project for the better part of three years, as a collaboration and with engineering by Jon Ashley of Bondi Effects. I feel that the pedal is unique in design and sonically unlike anything I have ever heard, especially in the lower gain and boost settings. There is a subtlety that feels more like a vintage pedal than a modification of a classic. There are two circuits present in the pedal, one distortion and one preamp boost, running at 18v via an internal voltage regulator. I made this pedal with the idea to create a distinction for my own sound, and what I found is that it is an extremely useful tool for capturing a lot of different types of sounds. I am most proud of the lower gain side, as I feel it is the most unique section of the pedal, but I must also include that the gain section is extremely sweet sounding throughout, especially for heavy and complex chords. There is a midrange punch that I love and a warmth and thickness that reminds me a bit of a ribbon mic. When the development of this pedal turned into something new and unique, it became the catalyst to starting 1981 Inventions, so I decided to make this the first official release.

Forward oder Reverse Delay lassen sich, je nach Setting, einmal shiften oder können mit fortlaufend geshifteten Repeats arbeiten. Das Effektpedal bietet mit Modulated und Harmonized Delays, Reverse Delays, Chorus, Arpeggios, unendlichen Descents, chaotischer Selbst-Oszillation und sich ständig weiterentwickelnde Klanglandschaften ein extrem breites Spektrum an möglichen Sounds. Das Herz des Raster V2 ist ein cleanes Delay mit bis zu 1600 ms Delay-Time. Drei Delay-Ranges ermöglichen eine präzise Einstellung und bieten gleichzeitig die Möglichkeit schnell und flexibel auf Timing-Änderungen zu reagieren. Über den Feedback-Regler lassen sich unendliche Repeats oder chaotische Feedback Loops einstellen und der Tone-Regler reicht von dunklen, analog klingenden Repeats bis zu einer digitalen Klarheit, die die Attack im Signal deutlich betont. Die zwei Delay-Channel können wahlweise in Reihe, in Serie oder im Ping Pong arrangiert werden und gleichmäßig oder in unterschiedliche Richtungen geshiftet werden. Die alternativen Funktionen der Regler stehen im direkten Zusammenhang mit der Hauptfunktion und sind zum besseren Verständnis klar beschriftet. Beide Fußschalter lassen sich, je nach Wunsch, als Latching oder Momentary Schalter nutzen. Bei der Entwicklung des Raster V2 wollten Red Panda Labs so viele klassische Rackmount Digital-Delay-Tricks wie möglich integrieren und gleichzeitig die schnelle und intuitive Steuerung beibehalten, die die Verwendung des ursprünglichen Rasters so unterhaltsam machte. Anstelle mehrerer Modi mit generischen Regler-Namen sind alle Parameter immer verfügbar, sodass sich verschiedene Effekte mischen und anpassen und zwischendurch neue Sounds erkunden lassen.

The Red Panda Raster V2 is a digital delay with a pitch and frequency shifter integrated into the feedback loop. Forward or reverse delay can be shifted once or have continuously shifted repeats. The effects pedal delivers a wide range of sounds including modulated and harmonized delays, reverse delays, chorus, arpeggios, infinite descents, chaotic self-oscillation, and continuously evolving soundscapes. The core of the Raster V2 is a clean delay with up to 1600 ms of delay time. Three delay ranges allow you to precisely dial in resonant feedback sounds and instantly change delay time with rhythmic shifts. The feedback control has infinite repeats at 3 o’clock and chaotic, textured feedback loops at higher levels. Knob responses are carefully tuned for exploration of self-oscillation and feedback on the verge of blowing up. A tone control sweeps from dark analog-style repeats to digital clarity and emphasizes the attack at higher settings. The left and right delay times can be set as a ratio, so a single knob changes both in sync. The two delay channels can be arranged in series, parallel or ping pong. Pitch shifting repeats up or down in semitone steps creates tempo-synced arpeggios and alien organ sounds. The detune setting can dial in micro pitch shifts and chorused repeats. The left and right channels can be shifted by the same amount, a ratio, or opposite directions. At subtle settings, repeats evolve in a way that sounds natural, but different from analog delays. Beyond pitch shifting, a combination phase/frequency shifter creates subtle evolving repeats, dissonant harmonies, and barber pole flanging. It can be pushed to extremes for ring modulation and inharmonic shifted delays that distort and break apart. The Raster’s modulation section has seven waveforms that can be assigned to delay time, pitch shift, or effect level (for tremolo). There are two random waveforms for glitchy sliced delays or random pitch shift, wow and flutter, and broken tape deck effects. Envelope and inverse envelope enable dynamic flanging and pitch bent delays. Stereo controls adjust the modulation amount and phase between channels, for subtle shifts or swirling psychedelic washes. Capable of extreme sonic mayhem, the Red Panda Raster V2 can also be used with restraint to add unique character to your sound. The Raster 2 is performance friendly, with 6 knobs and 9 switches. The original Raster was praised for its knob response and immediacy, and the Raster 2 maintains that simplicity while adding flexible modulation and extensive stereo functionality. Alternate knob settings are related to the primary knob function, labeled, and off at the center position. Both footswitches can be latching or momentary, for instant pitch jumps or quick blasts of echo. The bypass switch can also mute the output in bypass while always listening, to catch, repeat, and manipulate what you just played. While designing the Raster 2, Red Panda Labs wanted to enable as many classic rack mount digital delay tricks as possible while keeping the fast and intuitive control that made the original Raster so fun to use. Instead of multiple modes with generic knob names, all of the parameters are always available, so you can mix and match different effects and explore new sounds in between.

Echolution 3 is a multi-tap stereo modulation delay offering a myriad of sound design options including reverse, jump, pong, modulation tempo sync, variable low pass filter, flexible signal routing and comprehensive MIDI control. Delay times ranging from 100ms to 5 seconds can be dialed in using the Time knob or via Tap Tempo using the left footswitch. A second delay tap can be set to the same length or a fraction of the main delay time to create rhythmic echoes. The ¾ fraction creates a dotted eight note delay, while the Golden fraction uses the sacred geometry of the Golden Ratio (.382) as the multiplier for the second tap. The multi-tap settings can be even further enhanced by the stereo ping pong effect, which causes the different delay taps to switch sides on each repeat. Store up to 4 presets, unlock hidden features with the Universal Remote footswitch, and design yet unheard delay lines. Runs on standard 9VDC.

The Wash ist ein analoger Tap-Tempo-Delay mit über 1000 ms Verzögerungszeit. Sein einzigartiger Wash-Schaltkreis kombiniert Delay und Reverb auf eine Weise, die die Technik des Stapelns mehrerer Reverb- und Delay-Pedale in Serie nachahmt und sogar übertrifft. The Wash is an analog-voiced, tap-tempo delay pedal with over 1000ms of delay time. The Ripple knob controls the "Ripple Effect," where each successive delay trail slowly scatters and transforms into reverb. The Resonance knob fine-tunes the resonance and decay of the wash. El Castillo ist ein arpeggierender Hall, der Pitch-Bent-Hall auf ein völlig neues Niveau hebt. Er nutzt eine einzigartige Kombination aus drei Schaltungsblöcken (Hall, Pitch-Shift und Delay), um einen höchst experimentellen, atmosphärischen Hall zu erzeugen.

PITCH-SHIFT – Der Pitch-Shift-Block befindet sich in der Feedback-Schleife des Halls. Durch Hinzufügen einer Pitch-Shift zum Feedback-Signal entsteht ein „Treppenstufen“-Effekt. Jedes Mal, wenn das Signal die Feedback-Schleife durchläuft, verschiebt sich die Tonhöhe des Effektsignals nach oben oder unten.

DELAY – Der Delay-Block befindet sich ebenfalls in der Feedback-Schleife. Es handelt sich um ein einfaches, sich wiederholendes Delay mit einer Verzögerung von 0–800 ms. Diese Funktion bewirkt eine Verzögerung des Signals beim Durchlaufen des Pitch-Shift-Blocks. Bei minimal eingestellter Verzögerungszeit tritt der Treppeneffekt sehr schnell ein. Bei erhöhter Verzögerungszeit werden die Tonhöhenintervalle gestreckt, wodurch eine sehr allmähliche Arpeggio-Veränderung entsteht.

El Castillo is an arpeggiating reverb that takes pitch-bent reverb to an entirely new level. It uses a unique combination of 3 circuit blocks (reverb, pitch-shift, and delay) to create a highly experimental, ambient reverb.

REVERB – The reverb block is the heart of the pedal. It uses the same high quality reverb brick found in some of my other reverb pedals. It has two controls: “Level” and “Regen.” 

PITCH-SHIFT – The pitch-shift block is located in the feedback loop of the reverb. Adding a pitch-shift to the feedback signal creates a “stair step” effect. Each time the signal travels through the feedback loop, it will shift the pitch of the wet signal up or down. 

DELAY – The delay block is also located inside the feedback loop. It is a simple, single repeat delay that can range from 0-800ms. This feature causes the signal to delay going through the pitch-shift block. With the delay time set at minimum, the stair stepping effect happens very quickly. As you increase the delay time, the pitch intervals are stretched out and it creates a very gradual pitch arpeggiation.
