This limited edition version of Ariel’s signature Broadcast-AP features a stunning blue livery with a gorgeous dark red marbled nameplate. 

We took the low-gain side of the standard Broadcast as the starting point. Together, Ariel and I exchanged the Germanium transistor for a Silicon and used an OEP transformer – the OEP transformer saturates and distorts less below 100Hz compared to the Triad transformer used in the standard Broadcast. These two changes together give the Broadcast-AP a darker, smoother, more powerful tone compared to the standard version. Greater weight in the lows, whilst retaining the open highs and upper-mids, giving the Broadcast a ‘3D’ effect.

At the heart of the Broadcast-AP – as the name may suggest – is the same circuitry as the Broadcast. A class-A discrete, transformer-coupled circuit, designed to saturate in a unique way reminiscent of certain recording and broadcast consoles.

Broadcast AP Green

The Broadcast is a transformer coupled, discrete Class-A germanium pre-amplifier based on the classic broadcast consoles of the 1960s. In the low-gain setting, the Broadcast can cover everything from sparkling clean boost through to transparent overdrive, all with a healthy dose of volume available to push your amp. The Broadcast features a specially selected Triad steel-core transformer and a Germanium transistor. Advancing the gain on the Broadcast starts to saturate the transformer and the pedal’s discrete circuitry, giving rise to a gentle and dynamic compression coupled with subtle thickening of the mid-range. With the gain switch in the high setting and the trim control wound up, the Broadcast starts to deliver heavier distorted sounds with a warm and fuzzy edge to them. The Broadcast covers a wide range of driven and distorted tones whilst remaining dynamic, responding well to pick attack and the subtle nuances of every player.

Unsere Version des klassischen 808-Schaltkreises mit der zusätzlichen Vielseitigkeit eines leistungsstarken Zweiband-EQs, der von einem alten Studer-Aufnahmepult inspiriert wurde. Der Sidecar ist vollgepackt mit Attitüde und Charakter und kann sowohl klassische Overdrive- und Distortion- als auch, bei extremen Einstellungen, Fuzz- und Boost-Effekte abdecken.

Das Frontend des Sidecar ist eine modifizierte Version des klassischen 808 Overdrive, abgestimmt auf ein größeres Low-End, einen breiteren Gain-Bereich und mehr Headroom. Im Herzen der Clipping-Sektion befindet sich ein Paar Germanium-Dioden, die aufgrund ihrer „weicheren“ Ansprechcharakteristik ausgewählt wurden, um die Dynamik und das Spielgefühl zu erhalten. Die leistungsstarke Zweiband-Baxandall-Equalizer-Sektion folgt der Drive-Sektion und bietet bis zu 15 dB Absenkung und Anhebung der hohen und niedrigen Bänder, so dass Sie Ihren Ton formen können und dabei immer musikalisch bleiben.

Our take on the classic 808 circuit with the added versatility of a powerful two-band EQ which draws inspiration from a vintage Studer recording console. Packed with attitude and full of character, the Sidecar can cover classic overdrive and distortion as well as, at extreme settings, fuzz and boost.

The front end of the Sidecar is a modified version of the classic 808 overdrive, tuned for a bigger low-end, wider gain range and greater headroom. At the heart of the clipping section lies a pair of germanium diodes chosen for its ‘softer’ response characteristics, retaining your playing dynamics and feel. The powerful two-band Baxandall equaliser section follows the drive section and provides up to 15dB of cut and boost of the high and low bands, allowing you to sculpt your tone whilst remaining musical at all times.
