Death By Audio Amp Crash - The sound of a blown amp in pedal form With the Amp Crash, Death By Audio and Rainger FX present an effects pedal that doesn’t simulate the sound of a guitar amp, but actually generates it. Inside, a genuine 3 watt amplifier, a 2 inch speaker and a microphone work together - just like in a classic amp. This produces organic harmonics, natural compression and authentic feedback that cannot be achieved with conventional distortion or amp simulations. The internal amplifier drives the built-in speaker, whilst the microphone captures the resulting sound. The DI OUT and MIC OUT controls allow you to continuously blend the direct amp signal and the miked signal. The sound spectrum thus ranges from dynamic overdrive through powerful distortion to massive fuzz, harmonic feedback and controlled sonic chaos - with a playing feel just like that of an amp cranked up to the max. For added sonic versatility, the Amp Crash features built-in reverb, echo and chorus effects, the intensity and parameters of which can be conveniently adjusted using the Depth and Time controls. The Gain control ranges from transparent crunch to wild overdrive sounds, whilst the Tone control balances the sound between warm bass and brilliant treble. A switchable noise gate for the internal microphone ensures a clean sound at high gain settings. The Amp Crash is equally suited to studio recording, practising at home, creative sound experiments or as an exceptional addition to any pedalboard. The combined output sends the mixed DI and microphone signal. There is also a connection for external speakers (minimum 8 ohms, 3 watts or more), which automatically deactivates the internal speaker when connected. The pedal operates on a 9 volt power supply (2.1 mm, negative pole inside) and draws 300 mA of current due to the integrated amplifier. It features a buffered bypass, and all connections are located on the top of the unit.
