Once again my hubris brought me here. The Bass Amp Grinder is a ground up reinterpretation of the classic Rat distortion. Making homages is new for us but our customers have been asking for something like this for a while now. I normally refuse to give the people what they want but here we are. Strange times indeed. So what is special about the Bass Amp Grinder? Let's find out. 1. The DISTORT circuit is redesigned for lower noise and a more usable range with bass guitar. We bandwidth limited a modern-ish precision op-amp to meet the performance specs of a lauded op-amp of yesteryear. Time is a Rat circle. 2. The custom FILTER circuit is a 2-pole variable lowpass filter. This allows for more treble attack with less unwanted noise. 3. The VOLUME control adjusts the Grinder's distorted output only. This is on purpose. We promise. 4. The CLEAN control is inspired by our contoured low-passed filter which was in turn inspired by parallel processing in modern studios. It's not a blend or a mix but a parallel low-pass clean signal.
