Description
The Firebrand is our tribute to the classic Depth Charge. The Depth Charge is a hard to find fuzz pedal that is popular among bassists and guitarists looking for a heavy synth sound. It ranges from smooth and velvety to huge wall of sound tones. With earth shaking low end and cutting highs that punch through, this fuzz is an instant winner.
The dual fuzz design allows you to blend between a full range fuzz boost and a crushing octave wall of sound. As you turn the blend up and feed the second stage more gain, the octave fuzz comes in. Turn the tone knob up to get sinister scooped tones, or keep it low for a full range fuzz.
Use a 9V DC supply for consistent results and for the same tones as the original Depth Charge. Experimenting with higher voltages will cause more gating in the first stage. With heavy gating, the second stage will choke due to lack of a consistent signal. This may be desirable, but experimentation is needed to find the balance of voltage and gating while getting a good octave fuzz tone. Media
